I can get the entire set up off in seconds with a helmet on.  debating on doing a perminant mod or not, which would just be a tappered end with a loop so i could add remove the strap as nessissary.  Ferro could just make them that way for no addiction cost and sell a "quick doff kit" with a strap and - ring... i should call and tell them

I need pics of this. Also, the thing with the MOLLE is that I like using the flatpack ICW my Spiritus as an unarmored patrol kit. I could run the armor slick and put the pack/rig over like I used to back in the day. But I like options.

I'm really loving this thing. It fits great and is comfortable and doesn't get in the way. Unfortunately I have no way of going shooting with it or anything like that right now...but I can't wait to do so. I went with the skeletal cummerbund (I liked it a lot on my Crye AVS) and am using a Micro Fight Chassis Mk4 with a rifle mag insert, 2 pistol mag insert, and half flap.

This is just a prototype I rigged up so it was non permanent and I could test...look like shit but works.

The shoulder strap is attached as normal but then the end is folded up and back out the shoulder hole on the rear carrier...webbing is run un under the shoulder pad (or could be folded and kept in rear plate bag, but it would be a further reach to get to the end to pull it).  Here is a pic of how it would be inside the rear plate bag.

The end is tapered to limit snagging, and I would use a multicam material and webbing so you don't even notice the strap running under the shoulder pad.

The end you could use a D-ring, paracord, or attachment of choice.

Then you pull...

As you pull it is pulling out the end of the shoulder strap peeling it off the Velcro and then it releases.  Velcro is super strong but when you peeling it back in this manner is peels away and comes off without over stressing the seams and threads holding it on.

Here is my lame sketch...if I do it I will just have the strap attached, when not in use just leave the strap in the carrier....if someone wanted to make it really nice it would have a hidden loop to attach the strap via g-hook or something so strap could be removed.

T3 Geronimo quad release in custom Ohio camo .  Weighs 16 pounds with 3 loaded mags and front/ rear plates installed.
Having buckles, rather than Velcro, makes it much easier to put on and to take off compared to most carriers. It's real easy to install and it's consistent every time. Having the ability to pull a central lever and all four buckles release is very nice also. You simply connect the four buckles back together and it's ready to go again.
Very impressive carrier.

I live in a forest and I wanted something that was truly camo and could be thrown on over other gear and blend into my surroundings. Everything is dead at the moment but when spring comes I should blend in nicely. The American flag would obviously be removed when I'm ready to disappear .

A good start

Finished front view

Finished rear view

LOL view

I'm new to the plate carrier game, looking for an entry level minimalist carrier that can accommodate a few 5.56 mags, a med kit, and a light. Armor will come later. Small and light is the name of the game, leaning towards a Ferro Concepts Slickster. Anything else I should look at?

Warrior Assault Systems carrier with HSGI pads and a Spiritus radio wing for the BF. No padding between your body and the plates so not the most comfortable but very low profile.

What's the recommended hydration solution? I dont see a lot of people using hydration carriers attached to the plate carriers. Is everyone just putting that in their ruck?

It is entirely dependent on what you are running,  what your hydration needs are, and their availability.
I have a source bladder in my Flatpack (refer to one of my previous post)I can carry that as an assault pack or stand alone. If I'm on a static range, I'll bring water with me. I have a dump pouch on my belt that I can chuck a small gas station water bottle into and be good for a string of fire.

I like having a sepate hydration carrier. I can throw it over armor. Strap it on a ruck, etc. If im wearing armor and need to fill it i can without removing my armor.

I use a Source WLP. Esstac makes a hydration carrier specific for the Daeodon, so that's what I'm using.

I have a Source bladder designed to go in your rear plate pocket. That allows me to run a slick back and still have up to 3L on me.

I don't have one integrated into my carrier to stay as flexible as possible.  I have a Camelbak Mule Hydro carrier if I want to add a full 3L and a couple things in pockets.  Or I can throw on a normal pack with a reservoir.  Or I can throw a couple store bottles in my belt dump pouch if in a hurry.

I have a Source kangaroo in my 4'  clock position. Its 1L that always stays on. If I need more water I throw a pack on with a Source Bladder

Look up Sawyer Fast Fill Adapter on Amazon. For under $10 you can get an adapter to fill a Camelbak from a water bottle or even a garden hose.

If you're content with your setup, it may not be worth it. But it's great for those who have a mounted hydration bladder.

I keep bladders in backpacks. If someone had a situation where they needed to drop their carrier in order to climb quickly or run fast, having their water on the carrier would be a disadvantage. I feel like adding weight to the carrier is a disadvantage regardless. That being said, unless you are going to be without a water supply for an extended time, a simple canteen on a belt is sufficient and convenient. If you are traveling long enough to need a backpack, it's easy to just carry extra water in the pack.
Some people may prefer to carry everything on their carrier rather than using packs and that's when it makes sense to have the bladder on the carrier.
That's just my personal opinion, I would do whatever is most convenient and easy for you.

I use a JPC 2.0 with the zip-on rear pack.  I keep an empty 1L Source bladder rolled up in there if I want to use it, but I usually just rely on either a larger Source bladder in a pack or bottles of water close by, depends on what I'm doing.

1 qt. Nalgene on my belt. Extra water goes in my SKD Grunt pack. I'm experimenting with a smaller bottle (14 oz.) on my chest rig, along with four AR mags in two double magazine pouches. For a lot of hikes, the small bottle and the Nalgene can get me a long way without the need for the pack.

Yes it's their PTT retainer, and then held in place with their cable managment system (which is just velcro one wrap sewn together).  Just use one-wrap but i like how using the ptt retainer it sets offest and more out of the way.

Finally got my mess sorted out and initially started out with Spiritus Mk4 on a Slickster.  I still have the MK4 an use it but I threw an Esstac Daedon Front panel.  Much more low profile and I feel like I just kept adding junk to the MK4.  I still use it but it's too much for a slick carrier IMO.  Loving the Slickster though.
