Anyone know of a US made discreet rifle case?
Want something that has backpack straps, holds an AR (or two), other gear and doesn't scream: "GUN!" Something like this: http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/ItemDetail.aspx?sku=MOLLE-350 Search turned up nothing. Thanks, Dan |

This may work for you....
Nicely constructed case and I'm pretty sure they're made in the US. I got mine from Area 51 (site sponsor), but I'm not sure they carry them anymore. |

Go to DVOR.com and register
get this bag for $50. All sorts of awesome gun deals different ones every couple of days. http://www.opticsplanet.net/opmod-shooters-mat-drag-bag-double-rifle-case.html Today they had a Vortex SPARC for $159. It sold out quick. |

I have one of their Omega EOD vests, and all of my ARs wear BlackHawk SWIFT slings. I'm getting ready to order one more case from them for my SPR. It's good stuffAnd the company was founded by a Navy SEAL. I really like this one, but want back pack type straps, for when I want to carry it while on two wheels or snow shoes. |

The one that looks like a folding chair/pop up canopy case is the slickest I've seen yet for real world use. Example: I look like a hillbilly. There is a half inch of ice falling tonight. Just where the hell does someone suppose I am taking my tennis racket? draws attention. |

Just where the hell does someone suppose I am taking my tennis racket? draws attention. He does bring up a good point. You have to use a case that fits in with your dress and lifestyle. If you look like Axlnut, in the weather conditions he describes, you'll stand out. If you are 5'4" and 300 lbs, with a racket case, you'll stand out. If you are wearing slacks and a nice shirt, either a button down with or without a tie, or a polo and carrying a ratty guitar case you'll stand out most likely. Carry a good quality one and people will think you're on the church band. Wear some jeans instead and people might think you're just a hobbyist guitar player. Nice weather, or lots of large indoor gyms and that racket case fits in better, especially if you are somewhat athletic looking. |

Just where the hell does someone suppose I am taking my tennis racket? draws attention. all depends on your attire and how you present yourself....I wear slacks and dress shirts to work all week and right now I wear a calf length dress coat for winter...., a briefcase would make perfect sense for me to be carrying. I would rarely look "normal" carrying any of the other options, or any of the "discreet" cases being sold if I were in the attire I wear 75% or more of the time. If I had tennis shoes, shorts, and a sleeveless shirt on.....tennis bag would be perfect. If I had longer hair, a shaved head, or a rock band t-shirt on.....a discreet guitar case would be perfect. I cant really find a great use for the so called "discreet" cases that are rectangular in shape......with the material used and overall size, I would suspect either an AR or some smaller pistol caliber sub gun like an MP5 or the likes. Just my personal opinion, but if your goal is to be discreet....perhaps having a few different options for discreet cases to match your attire would be the best route? I mean, if I were walking around last spring at almost 280 lbs, how many people would have thought it was a tennis racket in my tennis case when walking from my vehicle into work? ETA......my typing is SLOW I guess! haha |

If you run across me im just another blondy going out to play tennis, with massive firepower! edit: im not a hillbilly, nor do i look like one. So my tennis bag fits me. When i leave my home, i like the fact that people see me carrying a tennis bag versus all the "covert" obvious rifle bags available. Guarantee nobody knows. Like previous post have said use what fits you. p.s. how often does one carry a folding chair/pop up canopy around a city? |

Probably not US made, but cheap and discrete. I break down my AR and slip the upper and lower each into the leg of an old pair of sweat pants. The bag is divided and I put the upper on one side, the lower on the other. The pockets on the outside of the bag will hold several magazines each. An 18 inch AR-15 upper is about the max length that will fit, plenty of room for a scoped upper. The lower fits with lots of room to spare. Best of all it looks like what it is, a tool bag.
http://www.amazon.com/Bucket-Boss-06049-GateMouth-Long/dp/B00002243U/ref=pd_cp_hi_3 There is a black and gray "extreme" model available here. http://www.constructiongear.com/bucket-boss-tool-bags.html |

At 26" x 11" it's about as small and discreet as a rifle case can be made, but a gun guy will always ID a 1000 Denier Cordura nylon bag with a knowing nod. Has removable backpack straps, and a roll top closure means you don't have to worry about a busted zipper ruining your day |
|
I used the Bucket Boss Extreme tool bag. Large and roomy. I could put 3 broken down carbines, 6 30-round magazines in the inside pouches, and 12 30-round magazines in the outside pockets and still have room for parts, cleaning gear, and the like.
The bag is well made and heavy duty. I used it when I worked a not-so-well-located convienance store and would leave it on the counter. Since I was in a Bullet proof cage, and practiced pulling it out he bag and putting it together, it take less than 20 seconds to have it ready to Rock-and-Roll. I just told people it was what I was using as a gym bag if they asked. No one even suspected I was that heavily armed. |

Check out Sneaky Bags, www.sneakybags.com There site doesn't have pics up, but if you called and asked them to email pics, I'm sure they would. The medium covert will fit a 16" AR without having to break it down. Pricey, but looks well built. Will be getting one soon.

Are there any that would be long enough for a full 12.5" AR? With MOE stock?

You know you could just take a tape measure to REI and look at packs; any pack that has 25" of vertical space will fit a broken down 16" AR.

My wife got one of the Noveske packs under the Christmas tree. I can't make fit a 10.5 inch bbl with the SRT can on it. The collapsible stock sticks up about 2-3 inches beyond the zipper.
