Painted my Pro Tech Bravo and got a rail for the opposite side as well. Now I can run a insight M3 and a Priceton tech MPLS switch white/IR

This is my gear (so far) for some carbine classes I'm going to be taking

Link Posted: 4/22/2014 12:12:43 AM EDT
[#3]

Built lower, built upper with Daniel Defense goodies, and a Vortex Viper PST 1-4x.
Haley Strategic D3 in Kryptek Mandrake with power bars in one pouch, misc stuff in the other. Tourniquet strapped to one shoulder harness, pocket knife on the other.
Camelbak in woodland.
Cheap belt but works pretty well. Carries my holster and IFAK.

Thoughts and suggestions? My first rig of any kind so I'm still in the process of building it but I'm liking it so far.

I still have some room in one of the pouches on the HSD3 and nothing in the stuff-it pouch. What else should/could I add? Only thing I've found that will fit nicely in the stuff-it pouch is a water bottle.

Arsenal SGL-21 with Aimpoint T1

You should really move that rear sight wayyyyyy back. There is no benefit to having it that far forward. Same with the RDS.

That's a good looking set up.  The D3 is designed to be somewhat of a minimalist rig, so I wouldn't max it out.  As far as the stuff-it goes, the uses are limited by your imagination.

Thanks.

This is my first rig of any kind so I can't compare it to anything else, but so far I'm liking it. Chose it because it seemed small and light but I had the option to carry some extra stuff if needed.

Ya there is, I'm really far sighted so that's about the farthest back I can have it and still see it, even now it's still a little blurry.

In that case, hopefully you'll learn something in this class you're taking. The rear sight is supposed to be blurry.

Hold off on that next rifle/firearm/large gear or ammo purchase and invest in LASIK.

This man speaks the truth: If your vision prevents your brain from registering the presence of the rear sight in the correct position - at all - you need to get that shit fixed.

In other news, check out the FLC Thread for ideas for that first post-LASIK gear purchase.

You're not supposed to look at it. You're supposed to look through it. Use the aperture as a window only. Do you have to see the window frame to look at a bird outside?

I was going to with my tax refund, but then I started looking at the SOPMOD thread. But that is the next thing on my list, or at least new glasses. The ones I have now I've had since I was a sophomore in high school.

I know, but it works a lot better when you can see the window. With it all the way back I can't tell the difference with it up or down, not a blur or anything.

Lol yeah you might want to get some new glasses. Honestly, that's probably all you need.

I've been wearing contacts for 10 years now and they usually have to make an adjustment every time. It's a small adjustment every time but eyesight is always changing.

Every 2 years at a minimum. That's how often you need to get your eyes checked and possibly new glasses issued, depending upon how much your eyesight changes.

Your eyes should be a priority, certainly a priority over rifles, classes, gear, team memberships, etc. I wear glasses and being able to see shit is pretty important to me.

Up until I got PRK (free courtesy of the US Army) I had annual eye exams (also free courtesy of the US Army).  My eyes continued to deteriorate since about 4th grade, probably from too much Nintendo growing up.  I was 20/400 both eyes before surgery, 20/20 in the left, 20/15 in the right.  Had the surgery in 2006, still going strong.  I would do itagain in a heartbeat if my eyes went bad again, being able to see is awesome.

I had something for the gear thread but its too big and needs to be returned to Crye Precision.  If you're used to wearing a duty belt, check out the Crye Precision MRB.  I'll be buying another in black as soon as I get a medium, large was too big.

Ah, gotcha. Didn't quite get that it was so fuzzy you couldn't even tell it was there.
Yeah, I'd look into either new corrective lenses (might as well go polycarbonate, too) or corrective surgery.

Good luck (from someone with awful nearsightedness and a dose of astigmatism for good measure)

And since it's a pic thread here is my Original RAID pack:

Here's about half of my packs. Only a few of these actually ever get/got used.

Who can name the most?

I'll take a stab at it

Top row left to right: The first two packs are assault packs but there are so many clones that it's hard to determine the exact brand. TAD Fastpack EDC.
Middle row: Eberlestock G2 Gunslinger. Goruck GR0 or GR1 (hard to tell). No idea on the third pack
Bottom Row: ATS Original Raid. Kelty Strike 37. Kelty MAP 3500
Floor row: Can't really tell but some type of Malice pack? Sneaky Bag CRB

Pack I made:

I still have a lot to learn, also my $50 wallyworld special doesn't really love sewing through webbing.

I like the squared top of that. You might wanna consider pals webbing on the lid for tie downs and what not.
