[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Remington 11-87p 18.5" Barrels Chrome Lined?

I just got my 18.5" 11-87p barrel and the chamber / barrel / gas port area appear to be chrome lined. I looked at the specs on Remington's website and it doesn't mention chrome lining. Does anyone know if they are?

Nobody else has an 11-87p? The reason for my question is that the chamber/bore and gas port area are a matte silver / chrome color so I'm assuming that it's chrome lined but wanted to see if other 11-87p barrels are the same?

You never know what a manufacturer might do, but I have never seen a chrome lined 11-87 (or 1100 or 870 barrel). Perhaps you are seeing the polished metal?

Clean/degrease a small area and apply some cold blue. Polished steel will change color, chrome will not change color.

Carlson's offers replacement 870 barrels that are chrome-lined, and Google results suggest that's the first chrome-lined barrel ever available for a Remington shotgun. I looked at a 870P in 2009 that the police store guy told me was chrome-lined, but he was probably mistaken since I never found documentation to back it up.

Never heard of Remington chrome lining barrels of anything.
