Off topic, but seeing the kids on the playground in the background is throwing me off. I'm sure it's perspective...

Tony Rumore is a member on the site.  He'd know if it was one of his products.  IIRC his screen name is tonyrumore.

The Vepr 12 comes out of the box with almost all the changes the Saiga 12 needs to become useable, and it cycles target loads without the need for custom parts.

For the Saiga, add $200-400 minimum to the price tag for the conversion parts and fixes you'll need/want to have done.

Call Anthony at evlutioz LLC in FLORIDA. I think his price is 1200-1500 to make your saiga a 100% sbs. Look up his 6.5 inch saiga "its alive" video on youtube. He has my sbs and is re working it now.

Thats a Tromix.

The handguard is a tromix product, and he did not sell that size as a part.

Plus, the triggerguard and HK sights, not to mention the poly choke with a tromix-made FH on it.

The stock is an Ace manufactured one, which he put on his builds until he had his own made.

I really like the SBS 'Saiga' here, so if I like to get one, and since the Vepr 12 is available, which one is better to get now to convert it to SBS?  Saiga or Vepr?  It seems like Tony (Tromix) only works on Saiga and Anthony also works on Saiga (maybe Saiga been around a little longer than Vepr), I'm confused.......

Tony specialized in conversions of the Saiga 12 how they were a decade ago. They were a sportierized AK, and the trigger was moved back and had no pistol grip.
It takes some skill to move the gas block back, weld over the gas ports and drill new ones. Tony is the guy who did all the work to put the info out to everyone else. He was also the guy who developed the .458 SOCOM Ar15s with other people. He is someone that most people have never heard of, but is responsible for a lot of things that are now commonplace.

Veprs have a thicker RPK receiver and are imported in a pistol grip configuration.

Its easier to SBS the Vepr because of how it is imported, but the Saigas come in a pistol-grip configuration now as well.

I am pretty sure that the importers get them as incomplete, and assemble them to comply with the 922r regs.

I don't really know how they are imported, just how they are sold.

I remember you from the Saiga forums a long time ago.

Vepr 12 is a less than ideal candidate for radically chopped SBS and it is more economical to start with a Saiga 12 IZ-109, in spite of the need to convert the rear.

Don't forget to tell them how it's more economical to get the right person to do the work the first time!  Otherwise you'll end up like me. Anthony or Tony rumore are the only ones id let touch it after learning the hard way. But I can tell you this. .. I bet no one in the biz has the integrity that Anthony has.  I'm sure Tony is a nice guy(haven't dealt with him), but Anthony has stepped up to bail me out from having a $2k paperweight in terms that I cannot explain here, but trust me he had earned a lifelong customer for any gunsmith needs.
