I think it's a thinner receiver on the 20ga.   Mine is splitting and local shop has some spare 12 ga stocks.  Hoping to use for a cheap repair to keep this old horse in service a little longer until I can afford a beretta later this winter.

The smaller gauges, 20,410,28 are the same size.

The 870,1100/1187 buttstocks interchange.

Remington used to make the 20ga on 12 ga receivers so it was all the same. They no longer do and it is a smaller receivers and thus a different stock. How old is your 20ga?

Yep, some do some don't. You can tell by the serial number suffix (I don't remember which is which off the top of my head).

Google the Mesa Tactical "Lucy". It is a $20 adapter meant to bolt 12 GA 870 stocks on to the smaller 20 GA 870 receiver. I never used one but Mesa Tactical makes solid gear.

I've trimmed 2 Pachmayr Vindicator pistol grip adapters to fit 20 ga 870s.  You just trim off the top rib.  If you're good w/ a penknive, you could make a 12 ga wooden stock fit.

Picky, picky.  OP asked for cheap, not good looking.  You going to make up the cost difference to the OP for a proper 20 ga stock?

OP never stated what size his receiver is.

Thanks guys!  I'll probably get the adapter and pick up the replacement stocks locally.  The guy usually gives me really good deals.

It's the smaller receiver.
