They've had 14" barrels for at least 3 years. Looks like the price jumped $70 in the last month.

this really pisses me off. I ordered one of these back in march for $119 if i remember correctly. after a period of time i got a back ordered notice. I emailed them asking for a ETA and was told no estimated time could be given. So time passed on. Then i see that they have these in stock for the current price. I emailed them and asked if they would ship mine for the price of $119 like i bought it at in march. The told me my item had been discontinued and my order would be canceled. But to me my barrel that i ordered at $119 has the same description and same item numbers as the new barrel that sells for more. So in my opinion they just didn't want to sell it for the lower price i had bought it for in March.

I would much prefer to hack an 18" barrel - easier to find and much cheaper than a 14" one IMHO.

However, some people will only use factory made barrels and won't consider a shortened one no matter how well it was converted, and this will fit that niche. |

Agreed; right now, I'm having Wilson Combat "Ghosties" put on my 18" barrel; considering to have a second barrel chopped and a Wilson front ghostie installed. I know there are some good smiths in the Phoenix area that will do the work for me, along with the proper NFA paperwork. But I am also eyeing a factory receiver (one that has not been made into a full shotgun) to turn into an AOW (cheaper $5 stamp)... So right now, I am going about which route would be best for me. |

To file a Form 1 and make an AOW is $200; to transfer an AOW is $5. Just buy a factory AOW; it will be cheaper. Trust me. ETA: Most 870 AOWs are about $500. List price on a new receiver is about $250 and the F1 is $200. So unless you can get all the components in great condition for $50-$100, you're not going to come out ahead. Want to do it from spare parts? Cool, use them. Otherwise, just buy the factory AOW. |

Botch does not have great reviews when it comes to customer service.
