Earlier last week, I was scouring through my box of slings I've acquired over the years, looking for a two point sling to put on my 870 for an upcoming class the following week. I came upon the problem of mounting a sling on a synthetic stock. While the factory mounting point works well and dandy for hunting application, putting a sling mounted to the bottom of the stock, makes the weapon want to constantly roll over. At first what I had wanted was a mount on the left hand of the stock (along the lines of a typical AK stock). This would allow for the weapon to sit in the same orientation as when shouldered. I looked at two ways of doing this, either using an actual AK mount, or using a single point mount that fits between the stock and receiver in conjunction with a sling plate mounted on the magazine tube. I wasn't truly happy with with of these because the AK mount would require my to drill into the stock (which I wasn't sure if there was enough material in a synthetic stock to hold a screw), and the single point mount would add length to my length of pull. After searching on the web I settled on the Spectre Gear 2 Point Sling.

The sling attaches by wrapping around the stock, and cinching down with a velco fastener. There are no modifications one needs to do to the weapon. Installation took less than a minute and was as simple as putting a sling plate on the magazine tube and wrapping the butt end around the stock. The nylon is decent quality, as well as the stitching. All placing doesn't feel cheap and is marked "National Molding".

One of the features that really makes this sling shine is the ability to quickly adjust the length. This allows to have the weapon riding snug up against you, and in a flash loosen up the sling to allow for manipulation. The way Spectre did this was through a spring loaded metal clamp the is on the forward side of the sling.

The sling is made in the USA, and is backed by a Lifetime Warranty.

The only major concern I have is whether or not the velcro is going to hold the rear portion of the sling on to the gun, or if it will simply slip off the butt. Unfortunately, I didn't receive the sling in time to use it in the class, but if any problems arise further down the line, I'll let everyone know.

To sum it up, if anyone is looking for a sturdy, easy to mount 2 point sling, I would recommend the Spectre sling.

Good review, but don't worry about that. The design is fairly proven.
