Sure can. I replaced the plastic assembly on a 590SP (heatshield, bead sight version, 50665?). I bought the metal trigger assembly at Brownells. ($60 +-). Drops right in.

OUTSTANDING DMR.  I just caught this info here about the 590As that Mossberg will be releasing, including the 590A1 SPX you note above!.  How I hope they sorted out the LPA mounting problems...

what is it with the DA? I caint tell any difference between my 590 and my 500. I have the 20" parked 590 with "accy" lug 8 or 9 shot, speed feed, ghost ring. Its my 2nd one. and mine has the plastic group. not leo but still a good'n.

You mean the 590DA1?  It's the trigger.  DA1's have a long, heavier double action trigger.  When you pump it, it only half-cocks the hammer, and the trigger cocks it the rest and fires.

I aint sure. I just know my instructions say that it is but mine aint a A1 model. It looks just like it in all aspects other than the plastic trigger guard.

G22, that one is strange - how is that a 590?  What is the capacity, 6+1?  I have a listing for the 51686 that has all your features and cannot figure what distinguishes it from the 50686.  Also, did you put the strap on or did it come with one - I'm guessing it comes with those 14"?  Thanks for the photos!

Definitely a 590, and stamped as so on the bottom. It is just the non A1 version. Plastic trigger guard/tang safety. Barrel is apparently lighter also?

5+1 I believe, whatever the 14" ones hold. I have only shot it a few times though, and never fully loaded it.

The strap is factory held by a couple Philips screws.

I have never seen a 50686 listed anywhere on the web either.

EDIT: confirmed that this barrel is 'heavy-walled'. DOB is 7/97 per Mossberg. P252xxx

Just picked up this 590A1 from a fresh delivery . The mod # 50771 does not appear on your list , or at least I didn't see it .
I had ordered a 51668-6 , but they sent this one instead . Seemed like a fair trade , Speed-feed stock for a M9 Bayo

UPDATE :  I found some more info on this model . It's listed as the  590A1  SPX TALO- 9 SHOT - 50771

Specs :

20" heavy barrel , Ported
9 shot Parkerized
LPA , GRS , Removable rear sight
Metal Trigger Guard  and Safety
Accessory Lug , W/ M9 Bayonet

my 500a (8+1) will only hold that many if i use 2 3/4" shells.  perhaps you're using 3" or 3.5" shells?

Thanks for the input.  I've updated a bit, but still have to add the new 500/590SPX versions and the various 500s with the unbelievable muzzle attachments (suppressors???Barret .50 muzzle brakes???...hell, they even put one of those on a .22 cal bolt gun I saw somewhere...what the hell is Mossberg thinking....)

Anyone know the part number for the 930 SPX replacement barrel w/LPA?  Also, some folks have been receiving on warranty replacement a 930 SPX barrel with a raised front sight base - does this have a different part number than the non-raised canted 930 SPX barrel?

Mossberg still has not released the SPX barrels or the ODD DUCK barrels as parts, although though they are in theroy availible for the 870 (not the SPX) with part numbers on the LE price sheets. (I've had some on order for a few months)

Just a thought keep those odd ducks off the list as they offer nothing other then embarrassment to serious users of Mossberg products

.22 Road blocker, oh bother

DMR, thanks much for the scoop on the SPX barrels - good to read you again - check your e-mail.

BTW, I decided to follow that recommendation last week when I visited the site and looked at those abominations pictured on Mossberg's site, god f'n awful.  I would just like to know who the person was that persuaded the entire company to add these models to their line, which I would think would be no small feat?  I would think offerings like that would hurt the credibility of the company hoping to be taken seriously by LE and military contracting.

I didn't see my new 500 on the list.

Model 50521 Persuader Cruiser

Synthetic Stock, Pistol Grip kit, studs

18.5", Bead front, 12 gauge Cylinder bore, 5+1, Parkerized, Drilled & Tapped

Basically it's identical to the 50411, except parkerized instead of blued.

Pics coming this weekend.

I hate how Mossberg doesn't use Parkerized finishes on their new 590's, they have a matte blued finish instead.  I bought a brand new 590 a few months ago and the box even says "Parkerized" but it isn't

There's a lot of versions of this shotgun.  I'm saw what I think is the 51668 at a gun store the other day.

speed feed
20"
parkerized
ghost right sight
bayonet lug
(that's what I can remember)

One was new for $400-430 (again I can't remember)
The other was used and needed some cleanup for $350

That sound like an ok price?  I'm trying to find some prices on those particular models, but I haven't found anything yet.

*edit, Ok the new gun is $495, but it's got the metal trigger guard and thicker barrel.  The $350 gun has the plastic trigger guard and the normal barrel.

The 51668 for 495 is pretty good... if I recall correctly the dealer price is in the 460s from Davidson's, so I'd jump all over it at 495.

Maybe they expanded their "Special Purpose" line.
Given the Rolling Blunder, Cock Blocker, and some of the other silliness they've done I don't put much past their marketing department.

M24shooter, what ever became of that meeting you were to have with Mark Kresser (VP Sales & Marketing) of O.F. Mossberg?  You last posted about this on WeaponEvolution and I believe the Tactical Shotguns forums last July.  I've been away awhile regarding shotguns...

maybe someone can help me. Years ago I purchased a Mossberg Mariner Shotgun. At this time the Mariner was actually made out of 100%  stainless steel. Every screw, spring etc   was all SS. The newer Mariners have a  "Marine Coat " finish because it was to expensive to keep producing them out of SS. At least that is what I was told. It has sat in my gun safe for the past 18 or so years. I have always wanted a tube extension that would bring the tube out to the end of the barrel, but I have never been able to find one to match  my gun. Obviously it would have to be  SS. Does anyone know of anyone that might be able to help me with this?
Thanks

what is a "clean out tube" as mentioned in the listing? I have never heard of it...

I love this shotgun - I always have been a Remington 870P type of guy but after seeing how the safety was setup and the overall construction - I am sold on the Mossberg 590's

Yeah... after how many 870's I have repaired... and the comparison of the carrier systems in both.
(870's having several parts and multiple wear points and not being able to be reversed after a certain point vs. the 590 having 1 piece for its carrier system that is manipulated directly through machined slots in the Bolt carrer) I am now a 590 fan.

Brutally reliable.

IMHO it beats the 870 any day of the weak.

Remington just has a larger following. (good guns no doubt, I just prefer otherwise)
... and you will hear people say dumb shit like "oh... well remington uses steel receivers instead of aluminum like mossberg" yeah... let me know when your aluminum receiver wears out none of the 870 fan boys seems to have an issue with AR receivers...

Picked up a new 590A1 = 51660 model (20", bead front, standard stock, and has the bayo. lug).  I went to put my USMC OKC 3 bayonet on it, and the ring that goes around the magazine cap is foward by about a good 1/4 inch.  No where near the cap.  My buddies M9 bayonet fits perfectly.  Why is the USMC version so long as to not fit?  Thanks in advance.

I don't think the new USMC bayo was ever meant to be used on USMC Mossbergs.  Even when I was in, it never occurred to us to attempt mounting the old style bayo on the 500s or 590s we used - I cannot even recall noticing if they had a bayo lug or not.  After reading your post, I fixed my new USMC bayo to one of my 590s and found the same problem - the bayo will fix securely, but the ring is a bit fore of the mag cap.
