Recently bought a Rem870 from my buddy's shop. It started life as a trade-in Police Wingmaster from NC State Corrections. The shop sent it to Wilson Combat/Scattergun Tech to be shortened, rebuilt and upgraded.

I bought it and sent it to Sumtoy Customs to be threaded for extended chokes.

Ran her for a while and was constantly battling rust on the parkerized finish. I did a quick DIY coating with baked on Brownell's AlumaHyde II. Coyote Tan and Matte Black. Eventually, she'll be going to another buddy for Cerakote in Burnt Bronze and Graphite Black.

To dull down the chromed bolt a bit, I had it IonBonded.

The buttstock is a short Hogue model, the forend is the new Surefire DSF, the 1-shot extension is a Wilson, the rear sling mount is a GG&G and the sling is from Blue Force.

That turned out really well.  I love the look of the wood on that shotgun.  If you are inclined, a leather sling and a Wilson Combat sling plate really make a wood-stocked SBS look complete.  Mine sported one when it was in its smallest configuration.

how short is that? it looks borderline not short enough to be an AOW?

I'm not sure, and since I don't have it in that configuration at the moment, I can't run and measure it.  That was the 12.5in bbl, so I believe it would still fall in the AOW realm and not the non-NFA PGO shotgun realm.

I love that little guy in that configuration and before I had kids, I kept it in an umbrella stand.

I didn't take any pics of the process.  I cut the middle section out with a hacksaw, then installed a thin piece of steel that I picked up from the local hardware store in the channel on the bottom.  Left the steel sticking out the back and covered it with a blob of DevCon epoxy.  Once the epoxy had cured I filed it to fit the receiver.   Then just used a flat head screw to secure it to the gas block.

The safety is an R&R Target safety.  It doesn't have any sort of stops built it, so after installing the safety I drilled a couple of holes in the side of the receiver and tapped them for 4-40 cap screws.  I then epoxied the screws in place and ground them down to resemble rivets.

As for the rest of it, ADCO did the barrel work, to include welding the old gas ports and drilling new ones.  It only has 3 holes, I forget the size, but they're fairly small.  I had them drill them identical to the factory ports.  Cadiz Gun Works welded up the receiver, to include the back end, the old fire control group holes, and the old safety holes and provided a new heavy duty op rod.  The bolt carrier group and Tapco FCG were polished and reprofiled by Pauly.  I cut and reshaped the gas tube and installed the safety.  The grip adapter and guide rod are from JT Engineering. The gas plug is a Tac47 Auto Plug.

ETA:  The barrel is now 12" and the gas block was moved back 2".

it's purdy though. it's funny how that extra 1 1/2" off the barrel can look so much cooler. but i can bring myself to do it. not the 200 bucks but i just like having the ability to change it around and keep it tile 1 but i will probably do one that short eventually.

Steve Rose of RoseActionsSports.com did the barrel work.  12.5in cut and crown.  Vang comp sights, hogue fore end and Magpul stock and sling mount.  Added a PA red dot as well but not in the pics.  The entire gun was refinished by my with Allumihyde in OD.  Shoots like a dream too!
