I saw an email with some of the new offerings from FN for 2015. The FN15 DMR looks extremely tempting, but what caught my eye was the add for the FNS compact to be released in 2015. It didn't say when though. Just throwing it out there for all the people waiting for one. It appeared to be about the same size as the M&P compact.

It would be balls to have an FNX .45 Tac compact, similar to the HK.

I don't believe there will be a .45 compact any time soon. The FNS .40 compact will be hitting the market soon followed by the FNS 9 compact. The cool thing is you will be able to use your full size mags with a sleave,

They should double down and release a single stack too, beat Glock to the "Shield" market.

If this is legit, it will probably be my next pistol purchase. I have been waiting a while for it.

It does not look like that.

A bad photo-shop at that. That's an old FNP-9, hammer fired, not striker.
They don't even make those anymore.

Can you forward or copy the pic in your email? Was it an old one from OMB?

Thanks,

At least Glock says "no." FN will plan the release for 5 years before actually bringing the gun to the market.

Has Glock ever said they weren't going to making a single stack 9mm?

That's why I put no in quotes. Glock always just dismisses that anyone wants one, and then when they hype up a release they always pretend like what they are offering is exactly what everyone wants.

The suspense is killing me.

[#19]

Over on FN Forum in some of the FN ads, they seem to be slowly revealing the gun by making the "smudge" smaller and smaller. At first you just saw the front of the gun, now you can see the rear slide and what looks like a grip extension.

It looks G19 ish in size. That earlier pic is of an older FNP-9M, which was just a tad smaller than the FNP at the time.

Can anyone confirm if it is more G26 like or more G19 like.

The suspense has been killing me since 2007 when an FN rep responded on the FN Forum that a subcompact was coming in Late 2008. Wow, it is only 7 years later!!  unreal.

I wonder if they will introduce a totally modular weapon for the MHS solicitation?

Thanks,
Dave

It's somewhere in between, I believe. It holds 12 rounds as opposed to the 15 rounds of a G19 and 10 rounds of a G26.

USSA-1 said Glock 26ish. With the 12 round capacity, I would guess that it I going to be about like a M&P compact. Glock 19 sized I think would not be worth the time. They need something 26 sized to become relevant for concealed carry.

I disagree. The Glock 19/23 is arguably the most popular concealed carry platform in the world. A FNS-40 in that size frame priced in the $450-500 range with night sights and three magazines would bring me back to FN.

Just don't think it will happen at this time. They FNS already has a slide and barrel length of the 19, they just went with a longer grip like a 17 size. Then they made a long slide version. I don't see them going to all this trouble just to chop the grip by 1/2 inch. FN has no handguns that qualify as an EDC gun (by most people's standards). I think if they really want to expand their market to the civilian concealed carry market they need to compete with the 26 and M&PC.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see a FNS Glock 19 sized, but they are really struggling to compete in a pretty crowded market. I think they are better off leapfrogging the 19 size and them maybe coming back to it later.

But that is just like my opinion. Not even worth 2 cents.

They had better be making a no-thumb-safety version...

NM... I should have looked at the pic!  The 2-tone one is no-thumb-safety!

Looks very close to the M&P Compact.

I saw this advertised in the rifleman magazine I got yesterday, I have been looking at getting a full size fns9 but this is extremely tempting. Says barrel length was around 3.5 inches if I remember correctly.

3.6" IIRC, so it is squarely in the M&P9 Compact size camp. 12 round mag, 3.5-3.6" barrel.

This.

Also, I'd love to see a full-size striker fired version of the .45 and for someone to do an aftermarket trigger for these.

I would also like to see that. Also, an FNS 9 tactical.

We should pressure Apex into continuing their development of the replacement trigger housing.

Apex has already said the FCG of the FNS is too complex to mess with.

They've been discouraged from doing it because they would need to design a new FCG, and they weren't able to get replacement parts from FN at the time.

If more people pressured Apex into putting it out, they may put more effort into developing it (assuming FN will be able to supply spare parts.)
