I got it back last week, took it apart to see what was done and read the invoice/report for the repair/service guys. They refit the extractor and slide stop and tested with a whole 20 rounds[!]. What I noticed was that they polished or even ground the slide where the locking lugs are and the barrel bushing area. In the process they polished the finish of the outside of the slide around the muzzle. leaving a silver ring around the barrel. None of this would matter if the pistol worked, as I would using it from the holster and putting honest wear on the finish. However, it does not, in fact it is now worse than before. It used to just stove pipe 3-4 times per 300 rounds, now after just 50-60 rounds the spent case gets half way out of the ejection port, still in-line with the barrel, and then jams up the gun, ruining the case. At least before the case wasn't damaged. It also jams more frequently. It is pretty undiscriminating with regard to ammunition, it jams with 115, 124 and 147 grain bullets, factory ball and reloads. I am going to call Armalite on Monday and ask for a new pistol or my money back. Whichever, this one is a lemon. Sorry to hear about your AR24. I also had a few similar problems with FTE's, but cured my own issues luckily for me. Do you have any pics you can show of the "polished or ground" area? Also the "extractor and slide stop refit", so I/we could compare to our AR24's and see what looks different. When you say "barrel bushing area", I assume you just mean the front opening in the slide? There is no bushing, although the hole in the slide the barrel goes through theoretically acts like a bearing or bushing surface. Pics would be nice if you could post any.. In any case, it could still be underpowered ammo, lubed surfaces, and if you read my post on how I modded my pistol, that may help as well. Just thought of something else.. did you put the recoil spring back in properly? Not saying you didn't, but if it were installed backwards that could cause a problem as well. Post what you find out. Hope it works out for you. |

Sorry Viper, can't do pictures. The barrel locking area of the slide and the "bushing" area at the muzzle end [if it had a bushing, that is] are the only visable modifications to the gun. The "re-fit" extractor and slide stop seem no different in appearance and performance to me. I did try different recoil springs and the gun was well lubed. I am not going to gunsmith this gun to get it to work as it should from the box, Armalite needs to market a gun that works, period. I appriciate your help and I will report back after I talk to Armalite.

This morning I spoke with Armalite, I told them of my problem and they agreed to take the pistol back for exchange. The individual I spoke with seemed genuinely concerned and desiring to solve the problem. With this experience I can now put Armalite's CS up there with almost anybody's. Kudos, Armalite!

CZ-75. Genuine Czech craftsmanship from the people who designed the pistol and it costs less than the Turkish copy.

UPDATE:
Yesterday UPS delivered my new AR24. I would like to thank Armalite for standing behind their product. There was no arguing over the phone or anything else, the fellow I talked to was the first to suggest a replacement. My initial assesment of Armalite's CS was wrong, I just caught them at a bad time. They can and do, stand behind their product. That said, I'm not sure I will keep this one. While I have faith in Armalite, my faith does not extend to the AR24. I'm going to think on this for a while. |

Everybody drops the ball in the game. What counts is whether they proceed to recover the fumble, and it's good to hear they've made the effort on your behalf. I can see both sides of your dilemma, but I would probably put some rounds through it and at least determine whether the execution of Aramalite's is good after all. I don't think there's enough of a mark up on these pistols for you to lose much on a fired AR versus a secondhand NIB one, so I'd get some use out for your troubles.

I've had a very positive experience with Armalite's AR24-15 and their customer service. I've put thousands of rounds thru it, great accuracy, great reliability. The few issuse I've had with it, Armalite has been comprehensive in their response. I will buy another one! I have two desires 1) make replacement parts available 2) release additional calibers. How about a 10MM.
I will order a replacement spring kit from Wolff based the current thread addressing this topic. Thanks for the info guys! |

I've got 100 rds through my AR24K and I've had several failure to feeds and failure to extracts. I know I'm not limp wristing it because I shoot a Glock 30 all the time and have never had a problem with limp wristing it.
I was shooting Remington ammo so I'm going to try a different brand. All the ammo I can find is 115 grain and I know they recommend 124. I'll try some of things I've learned here before I send it back. |

I tested both full size and compact. I didn't see any failures of any kind in 400 rounds in both pistols, to be honest I was skeptical after reading all the feed issue replies here. I didn't feel I needed to run anymore ammo through them because they operated so well, but I would like to conduct some high volume tests anyway. The magazine catch requires a break in period, it's nothing major, but something I noticed on both models. After a few magazines are slammed in the catch seems to loosen up and eventually settle in. Didn't have any malfunctions in either compact of full size, ran 200 rounds of the cheapest 115g FMJ I could find through each. I liked the tactical compact, but due to it's weight being similiar, I would prefer to carry the full size for increased accuracy. That's purely personal opinion, I don't like compact autos because my hands are in the L-XL size. I love the grips on the full size and the compact grips are decent considering it's small frame. I would recommend it for anyone with smaller hands. The full size exceeded my expectations in the accuracy department, the first 2 rounds @ 20 meters were bulls cutting into each other. I walked back and was able to remove the X in the IPSC target at 20 meters with the rest of the magazine. I took my time to regain sight picture, and settle my front sight blade. I followed with some rapid fire sequnces and was able to keep all rounds in center mass with flash sight picture. I'm not a crack shot by any means, but it was a nice ego boost. I had a difficult time getting bulls on the 5 meter, because I had to place the front sight blade over the point of aim knowing the sight profile. The groups were very tight, and the 5 meter aiming was well within critical centermass. I was worried that the sights would be inadequate to hit the CNP facial zone up close, so I tested it out at 5 meters and found that all rounds placed within the zone, I was also able to consistently hit the CNP at 25 meters. The tactical models adjustible sights would allow fine tuning. It's solid and hefty, but lighter than the M9s and much more accurate. I'm super impressed with them, they exceeded my expectations, and aside from passing all of my tactical requirements, I think they would prove to be all around good combat pistols.
