Baikal IZH-35M that was imported by EAA in '02. It is what the Russian Olympic team used at one time (not sure if they do anymore) and IIRC they even won gold with it before. Not bad for a gun that sold for a little over $400 brand new. The finish sucks, the build quality leaves a little to be desired, but holy cow can it shoot. Walther even sold a gussied up version of it under their name as the KSP 200. www.geocities.com/drclem/IZH.html tenring.blogspot.com/2006/03/one-from-vault.html BTW, I bought it from a fellow ARFCOMer. ;) You never now what you will find in the EE. |

Nice. I may just have to look for one. I am looking to replace my MKII.... No one imports them currently? |

Not to my knowledge. Just keep an eye out and don't fall for the "they aren't imported anymore so I am going to double the price just because" crap. I looked at and almost bought a couple different ones before finding mine. The big seller was the fact it came with 5 mags as I hear the exra mags are PITA to get or are expensive. I wouldn't replace a MkII with one (as you can see I have one myself) as it really is a competition type gun. The grip is made of one-handed shooting only (and a righty at that). You can use two hands, but it is not very comfortable. It only holds five rounds per mag (again, for competition), and it has rather funky ergos all in the name of accuracy and a very low bore axis. The slide is under the barrel and the hammer is on the top and swings down to hit the firing pin. You manipulate the action by a press-check method (the two serrated pad type things towards the front is where you put your fingers to open/rack the slide). It can also be somewhat ammo picky. It HATES the cheap stuff that my Ruger will eat all day long. Besides that type of gun deserves at least a match-type ammo (Wolf and Aguila makes some economical stuff that won't break the bank like Eley Tanex). |

My two, a High Standard Sharpshooter
![]() And a Browning Buckmark Target that I bought and sighted in today ![]() The buckmark is an absolute tack driver. Only gripes are the magazine safety (a stupid idea), the quasi-thumbrest on both sides of the grip (easily fixed by sandpaper), and the fact that I cant reach the magazine release with my strong-hand thumb. Aside from that, the pistol points naturally, is as accurate as I am, and has the best factory trigger I've ever tried. ETA: New sight... the $50 Bushnell took a dump |
