It isn't the ammo, mags, not limp wristing.

Thinking it's the recoil spring.

Thoughts? Similar experience?

I've used a wide variety of ammo with similar results.

CCI Minimag
Winchester bulk
Federal Automatch
Remington Golden bullets

More back pressure resulting in higher bolt speed?

What kind of "jams"?

Have you removed the LCI?

How many rounds on that recoil spring?

This is EXACTLY what my cousin had to say about it.

Yes, removed the LCI hoping to remedy the problem.

Mostly failure to feed. Some failure to extract and eject.

Recoil spring should only have 2000-3000 rounds on it.

I've got a recoil spring on the way, that's what makes the most sense to me at this point, though I plan to replace the extractor too.

Not a bad plan but that doesn't seem to be excessive on a .22. Cleaned properly?

Wish I could help. All my Ruger .22's have been 100%.

Yup, cleaned it real well.

I've tried various amounts and types of oil too.

I'll report back my results after changing out the spring.

Ditch the LCI and Magazine disconnect safety...and add a Volquartsen exact edge extractor. Mine will go over 1500rnds suppressed without cleaning now...just a little lube now and then.

LCI and mag safety have been removed.

Just replaced the recoil spring and replaced the extractor with a Tandem Kross one today.

See how it runs next week.

Why would the LCI have an effect on reliability ?

It can drag on the bolt, slowing it down.

Anything making contact with the case/rim can affect reliability. As carbon fouls the action the "wing" of the LCI accumulates dirt, as does the LCI body in the slot of the receiver. This added friction can cause the case to drag, and in turn the extractor to jump off the rim of the case. Removing the LCI and installing a better extractor increased my reliability many fold.

Any threads on how to remove the LCI ? Also is there a filler piece to fill in the slot ?

Remove the upper from the frame, and the bolt from the upper. Rap the upper on a piece of wood or something until the pin either falls out or backs out enough to grab it with a pair of pliers. Then you can remove the LCI. You can leave it out, remove the spring and metal piece and reinstall the plastic piece on the upper, or replace it with a filler from Volquartsen or Tandem Kross.

Replaced the extractor with one from Tandem Kross.

Replaced the recoil spring assembly.

Same results.

I have the Tandem Kross bushing in there, considering replacing the factory parts to isolate that as an issue.

I'm getting ready to ditch the gun for cheap or just have it around as a parts gun.

Try some different mags?  Is so...send it in to Ruger. Should be easy for them to diagnose is its having issues unsuppressed.

If it's still doing it, but running fine suppressed, but jamming unsuppressed, then I'd have to go with ammo. The suppressor is providing extra backpressure to kick the bolt all the way back. What ammo?

What kind of hammer is in there?

Your hammer may have casting flash on the face of it, and check your ejector to see if it is bent.

Stock hammer, but I'll check it out to make sure it looks/acts right. Same with the ejector.

Thanks, haven't considered these yet.

As a last ditch effort, I disassembled the lower, cleaned it and put it back together.

All good now.

Thanks for the advice here.

How dirty was it?  I've put a couple thousand rounds through my MK3 before cleaning the frame without issues. Did you have sand or some sort of foreign object in there?

Looks like it.

I've cleaned it plenty of times, but never detail cleaned the lower.

I have probably 3-4000 rounds through it.

Also, shooting suppressed dirties them up quickly.
