Does anybody run a buffer in there gun and how long do they last? Standard velocity 22 is hard to find around here. I have heard that it is not a good idea to shoot high velocity 22 in them unless you are running a buffer.

Never used a .22 buffer, so I can't speak for their lifespan. My .45acp ones go for 2K or so rds, but they're a lot more pressure obviously.

Have you tried the gun shows? I'm seeing .22LR std all over the local TN shows, FWIW.

I use a buffer in my 41. I have had it long enough I don't remember where or when I got it, but it is lasting just fine.

I've had my buffer in my S&W Model 41 for about seven years now and thousands of rounds.  Still looks good and holding up.  I shoot both HV and standard ammo.  My Model 41 loves CCI Mini Mags.  But of course I've heard standard velocity rounds are best in the gun.
