Don't know much about them but I saw one at a local FFL & I am strongly considering it.

Are they any good?

Anything I should look for in particular?

The TEC-22?  Ruger 10/22 mags, I believe, no parts available, plastic receiver, supposed to be a fun pistol.

I never saw one that wasn't a jam-o-matic.

Made my own "tec-22" out of a Ruger 10/22 pistol receiver and a short barrel, works better and is threaded 1/2x28 tpi.

tec-22s are threaded 1/2x20 tpi I believe and require an adapter for most .22 cans.

My buddy back in college had one. Not sure if it ever made it through a mag without several malfunctions.

I purchased one on a whim for $50 - where someone tried to do some creative filing to the FCG...

Even after replacing the FCG, it was still a jam-o-matic.

I've had one since 1996.

Pro tips:

- Buy a few extra firing pins, you will need them.  There is a guy out there that makes them and has a little site with them for sale.  They are a weird shaped piece of flat metal.

- It likes the Ruger BX25 mags the best.  Sometimes the butler creek mags work, sometimes they don't.

- It runs on CCI's the best and likes to be lubed up before any action

They run good on CCI mini Mags.

The one I had was very reliable, once I learned the trick of rocking the magazine forward to securely lock it in place.

If you have not seen it before, this site has a lot of info about it:

Mine was a jam-o-matic with all kinds of ammo. Winchester lead nose and Remington hp were the worst. It was kind of a fun gun when it worked especially when it went full auto!

I bought one off of the EE here many years ago. Absolute piece of crap.
It'll jam and flip the receiver top open.

I had one and this works , The Butler creek mags worked in mine as did factory Ruger mags . Even the mag it came with sucked . They like hotter ammo . I bought mine new when they came out and had to send it back to make it work better
