The Ruger and Browning Buckmark are the best choices from a reliability and accuracy perspective. Some of the Ruger 22/45s look less Luger like. There are some more "combat" style .22s now that seem to work pretty well. The M&P22, Ruger SR22, CZ Cadet and GSG1911 seem to be fairly well thought of. I have not been happy with my Walther P22.

What is the Ruger "luger" look alike? You mean the Mark III, because it's an excellent pistol? Check out the bull barrel models, like the Target and Hunter models, if you don't like the thin barrel. The Ruger 22/45 is similar to the Mark III except with a polymer frame and a 1911 grip angle. The Ruger SR22 is also a good choice, as is the Walther P22 although they can sometimes be picky with ammo. I have no experience with the S&W, and the Sig Mosquito is notoriously unreliable.

if budget is not a consideration, jump to the top with a S&W M41...

.22lr Ruger pistols are modeled after the Luger P08 look. If you dunno what a Luger is, you need to learn a bit more about firearm history.

I own the GSG1911, and it's a decent pistol. Full size 1911 and decent weight.

You need to slow your role there big man, I knew exactly whet he was talking about, although i don't agree. This is obvious if you read my post and knew a thing or two yourself.

i actually have shot my friends sw mp .22, i must say its a very nice copy of their full sized pistols and feels good in the hand. i recently purchased the new walther p22q target, almost feels toyish cause its size and grip, but makes me wrap my whole hand around the gun like a vise(good). i have shot about 600 plus rounds and only had about 2 light primer strikes, whichi i removed the round and re-inserted and shot again...probably needed some minor cleaning. but all in all fun gun and accurate enough. as a plus for sucha a small pistol people with small hands women/children, this would be nice for them to shoot. some pics and range results of the new p22 target model

Can't go wrong with the Ruger Mk I/II/II or the Browning Buckmark pistols. The choice for me came down to which one felt better in my hand, and it was the Buckmark standard with 5.5 inch slab side barrel. It may be my very favorite gun, rimfire or otherwise. Recently I bought a CZ Kadet conversion kit for my CZ75 SP-01, and it is really growing on me fast. It's a top shelf conversion that I can not recommend enough if you already own a CZ pistol. They sell it in a dedicated pistol, and by nearly all accounts, it's excellent, but it is pretty spendy.

Another for the Buckmark, or the Ruger MK series and I even had a Neo that was reliable.

I would go with the Buckmark. Now if you are willing to spend big bucks the model 41 idea is a good one.
Stick it.

In order of choices,
S&W 41

Ruger mk III

Buckmark.

I Love my 41 and it was given to me when I was 19 and shooting on a pistol team. Now it is up there in price, but comparing it to my MK II and MK III you can tell a huge diffrence.

That being said if you only want a plinker. I like my Rugers.

Actually they are more like the Jap pistol (nambi? spl) ! They are more Jap than German design.

And another sleeper is the Browninng Nomad that JMB'S grandson rediesigned the Colt Woodsman to make easier to tool. It;s a pre challenger, medalist, buckmark.

Has no lock back last round or slide lock. Kinda like the Standard Mk 1 ruger except has a ten round mag!

Well, they are actually closer to the Japanese Nambu pistol. If the OP doesn't like the grip angle, look at the Ruger 22/45's.

I have a Buckmark and love it, just do the sear spring flip! I have an AA kit on my G26 and it's fun and cheap practice. Also have a tacsol kit on a 1911 that I'm still getting everything smoothed out but I think it will very possibly be my new fave.
