Just got back from a 400+rd range trip with my new GSG 1911 AD OPS. 100rds of CCI Mini Mags and 300+rds of Rem Golden Bullets. Total over 500rds through this gun so far and only owned it for a week. A couple of FTF with the GB's, none with the CCI's.

25yds at the range and it'll hit a 3in target paster. I am totally happy with it.

Only mod so far: Mag Safety has been remoeved. Still hunting for a nice set of grips for it though.

Thinking about sanding the mag follower a tad. That way it will reliably hold 11rds. 11 fit now but its very tight.

It sure was fun today; knowing that 28 bucks entertained me for over two hours at the range.

Would very much like to see a dedicated GSG 1911 Pistol thread or at the very least add GSG/ATI in the Handgun section.

Damn you guys and this thread.

I bought one today.

On mine, I have to be very careful about how the last three rounds load in the mag, or the top one will fail to feed, or the second round won't pop up enough to chamber and the slide closes over it. I will clean up and polish the mag before the next range session.

It fed 50 rounds of subsonics with my Gemtech Outback II flawlessly. Winchester 555 pack had a few extract issues and the FTF issues as the gun became dirty. This gun has a very good feel about it, and it doesn't look like a toy as much as some of the imports. I will still pick up a Kimber Rimfire the second I see one.

Congrats! I would recommend CCI standard velocity, I think they run a little cleaner. Also I would recommend an aftermarket guide rod.

My fav ammo to run on this are cci stingers. Its not what I normally put through it but damn it shoots a huge blue flame with it and is loud as hell. Im also most accurate with it. Treat yourself to a box of it.

-Alumagrips
-Standard grip bushings and screws
-Single sided safety
-Nighthawk Custom MSH w/magwell
-Kimpro mag bumpers
-Thread adapter

No problems with the stock guiderod but then again, mine is not fluted and is pretty heavy. Funny thing is the cheap pot metal guide rods were in the earlier models but I bought mine not too long after they were first introduced

Mine is like the blued one on the right

Pot metal type prone to breaking

Removed the mag disconnect.
Replaced the factory guide rod and recoil spring with CW Accessories version.
Bought some spare mags.
Run only CCI mini-mags thru it.
Runs 100% now. Probably have ~5000rds down the pipe now.

Oh, almost forgot......a pair of Punisher skull grips.
I don't know nothin'. I just post here.

Got tired of waiting for the GSG badged model so I paid an extra fifty bucks and got the SIG version.
Can't say that I regret it at all, three or four bricks thru it and I finally cleaned it because I was feeling guilty.
Zero malfunctions and zero modifications so far ( all my monies are going into a lower build at present ).

ETA - Have fed it Federal, American Eagle, Spitfire, Remington and Winchester and they all worked fine, did I get lucky?

I have one of the early imports, and two Thursdays ago the aluminum barrel bushing finally failed. I called up ATI the next day and they said they'd send me a barrel bushing, spring, and a spring plug. I knew the bushing had a material change to steel, but when the parts came in today, I saw that the recoil spring and spring plug have also been updated. The old spring plug was round and fit in over the spring any which way. The new spring plug is has a tongue so now its fitted into the channel. My old spring had a tapered end, the new one is the same diameter on both.

Hopefully I'll have a chance to take it out later on this week to see if those parts make a difference.

I have put about 600 rounds through my GSG-1911 over the last two weekends. It is completely stock (extended guide rod and spring on its way), but I have to say it is far more accurate than I thought it was going to be. 20 shots from 40 feet with a 25 yard slow shot target, 3 dead center, 9 others in the red, 8 grouped right above the red in the first black ring.

I know to some that this isn't as impressive, but I have only been shooting handguns regularly for about a month (5 range trips). For a novice like me, I think this pistol is great to start out with. My only screw up was not taking a photo of the target for proof . A mistake I will try not to take in the near future.

Just found that Kimber today.

Pictures up later. I will do a side by side with the GSG to keep with the theme of the thread. Kimber Rimfire was $589 + tax, used, but perfect.

The Kimber is an ounce or two lighter, has a plastic mag vs. a mostly steel mag, and does not lock the slide back after the last round. It also lacks an ambi-safety.

The plus side is the Kimber has steel sights, a buttery trigger, and is not made of pot metal. Pure sex.

Took out the mag safety, filed down the sharp edges on the thumb safety, added a Wilson slide stop, Nighthawk flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, Ed Brown grip safety, and Caspian light rail. The guide rod broke on mine too, so my buddy's dad machined one for me out of a solid bar of aluminum.
I want to stop dumping money into it, since I'm kind of unsure of how long the slide might last, but part of me wants to drop a new trigger in, maybe get "real" sights, new bushing, grips, and possibly a refinish since the stock finish appears to be a step below spray paint.
I do like the gun a lot though. Only problem I've had is the broken guide rod and some light primer strikes that I need to figure out the cause of..

Just to let you know. That Kimber will take the GSG mag, and I believe the slide will lock back when using the GSG mag. I have been trying to decide between the GSG and Kimber. I love the silver of the Kimber to match my TRP and soon to be S&W Pro 9mm.

so I got mine on Fridy evening. Put about 200rnds through it yesterday. Only time it had a problem was FTF the very first round, which moved in with little effort.

The gun ran great and accuracy was good enough. Was shooting about 2 inches low at 5yrds.

When I was replacing the front sight last night, apparently the set pin wasn't pulled up high enough because it dragged across the sight base and left a nasty cut through the finish.

Just Sharpied it up though.

Definitely not a strong finish on these guns

Went ahead and ordered Ergo Grips, the Gemtech thread adapter and protector.
