Handled but not shot. Was NOT impressed & I'm a Buckmark kool-aid drinker. Sad that Browning missed the boat on a great opportunity, IMO.

I apologize for not answering sooner, but I just now saw your post. I own one of the little buggers. Well made (completely made of aluminum, slide and frame), but it should be for over $500. I've only shot a hundred or so rounds out of mine and into the back of the safe it went. It's accurate enough, and reliable. Trigger pull is acceptable. But the dang thing is just too small. It is too light and too tiny. I prefer to shoot my GSG-1911 (which acts and feels just like the real deal). Now it's made of Zamak5, but I don't care. I would shoot my Colt Umarex 1911-22 before I get the Browning out of the safe. I think Browning just blew it with the 85% size.
What else do you want to know about it? |

I picked one up a few weeks ago. I think it is a neat little pisto but I am a sucker for 22 pistols. It takes down just like a 1911. The size does not put me off at all. It is identical in size to a 1903 Pocket Hammerless and handles pretty much the same. I have only put about 100 rounds through it but it shot well and ran flawlessly. It has a mag safety that is kind of an annoyance but it looks pretty easy to fix. The recoil guide rod is nylon and the grips are plastic but I suspect the aftermarket will address that some time soon. It only comes with 1 magazine and it is a pretty fragile looking affair. Extra mags have been unavailable so far but that will change. I think it is pretty premium priced at $500 and would have really liked at around $350 better but the price did not stop me from buying it. It is not a 1911 trainer pistol and anyone with that goal in mind will be disappointed. It is also not a Model 41 or a Ruger Taget Model but it is better so far than my Mosquito or my P22. It is a really unique scaled version of the 1911 that is a hoot to plink with. It may replace my Model 63 as my woods gun because of how easy it pocket carriesI. If you like cool little plinkers and have the wherewithal buy one and I think you will like it. Hopefully they will sell a lot of them and those that are put off by the price can pick one up used in a few years.

Thanks folks, I really appreciate the response. I was thinking of getting one for my 13 yr old grandson. He likes his Ruger Bearcat a lot and I wanted to get him indoctrinated into semi-auto. He doesn't like my 1911 because of size, weight and recoil. This might just be the answer.

He will learn the function of the 1911 and when he gets older, he will be familiar with your fullsize 1911. |

The sights are terrible to the point of being unsuable without modification. The rear notch is too small and/or the front blade is to fat. The trigger is atrocious, like about 3 stages worth. The finish is kinda cheesy too. The price is too high also. I have looked at about 4 different examples wanting to find one that I liked or was made a little better than the last but they all scream "Overpriced Plinker that feels like an airsoft" to me.
YMMV of course. |
