Does anybody have any recommendations for a technique for stamping the numbering?
I have the correct stamps, but for whatever reason I can't imprint the numbering deep enough (the exception was on the mainspring housing). What hammer weight should be used? Any way to reduce the risk of smashing fingers?  Thank you in advance.

Had the pleasure of working on a Springfield Loaded today. The Loaded models have a pretty easy process to get them looking close to the M45. A couple hours, a safety, flat serrated mainspring housing, Pachmayrs, and it looks really close. C&S trigger kit should be in next week. Stainless blackening kit should be in the week after for the barrel.

Ben posted the PWS process earlier in the thread, but given my limited setup and budget I can't justify a refinishing setup to do it the correct way. Instead I will use Caswell Stainless Blackener as used in this thread http://www.ar15.com/archive/topic.html?b=5&f=49&t=115449 . It won't be the most durable from what I have read, but I don't mind wear marks. Hopefully it turns out well.

Now you may be talking yourself out of putting in a lanyard loop but I will tell you to do it and also add an Ed Brown ambi safety and it will look closer to the real thing. But either way love the well used look on this gun. |

I honestly didn't buy it to be a MEUSOC clone, really just because it's a fully functional loaded for $400 out the door, even if it's more used than driven to church every Sunday by a little old lady, but its tempting now. The ambi safety needs to happen just because I'm a lefty anyways, might as well go in all the way.

I just read an article in the marinecorpstimes.com that Marsoc is now allowed to use Glock 19's Does anyone know if this model will come in a tan color???

Does anyone else think that the later model Sprinfield configuration should be offered by SACS As a special order 1911? Unless they are under some type of NDA they could probably even do the USMC rollmark. |

The biggest issue there is getting over the NIH syndrome of offering a complete pistol that uses parts from other manufacturers (ed brown safeties, Kart/Bar-Sto barrels, C&S ignition kit)... just not gonna happen. The bright side is that the 'smiths at SACS are a big 1911 geeks as damn near most of us browsing this thread and if you send them the necessary parts/request them, they'll be glad to get you squared away. IIRC soneone here posted their clone that SACS did for them and they were even nice enough to stamp the serial on the safety/slide/barrel hood for them. |

+1. My guess is that ship has sailed. With all the mention of the NEW USMC COLT, few would want to own the old news Springfield guns. I doubt there's enough of a following, especially since the Springfields they fielded weren't widespread issue pieces, but rather gap fillers (the Newer M45 wasn't even a Springfield). Finally, those invested enough into owning one of those actual springfields would likely just go to SACS rather than waiting around for a catalog item.

Last I was deployed most of the MARSOC guys we were with had the newer PWS built M45s, (springfield loaded model slide, Ed brown safety, caspian frame, etc), but a few of the guys had SACS pistols, and the one I held had a NM prefix SN, not a USMC prefix, which I thought was cool. Pretty much a milspec modded out. Wish I'd taken a picture of it but didn't want to look like too much of a nerd geeking out... ;) I built a clone of it you can see above. SACS would do well selling a clone of the newest M45, but SCAS probably does fine with guys having them build one up. Ugh... Maybe I need one of those as well... 1911 syndrome is a bitch. |

I was going to bid on that but sent a inquiry to seller and he stated there is no hammer pin comes with that ambi safety. Without the pin, the ambi safety is only good as replacement parts for someone had a worn-out King's 201a. |

The Caspian Hammer pin works well with my 201As and vice versa.
Since the Caspian works fine without the hammer pin, you could either donate that pin to the 201A, or see if Caspian would sell just the pin. |

Blackened the barrel, installed the C&S ignition kit, and replaced the firing pin stop on my friend's LoadedSOC. Naturally I had to include a group photo.

Where'd you get those Pachmayr grips without the medallions? I bought some Pachmayrs for my Loaded and the medallions fell off on the second trip to the range.

I don't recall if it was ever discussed in the thread, but what do the numbers written on the grips symbolize and what is used to write them? I also noticed some pistols seem to have some sort of metal sticker attached to the frame.

Those are the old version Pachmayr grips. They can be found on ebay, but they will most likely be used, and will not have the ambi cut for your loaded safety.
