I have found a used one locally, blue/armory kote finish Operator model, gun has roughly 200rds through it and maybe a little more as I just found out the seller is not the original owner(trying to narrow round count down) we have a tentative deal of $1050, gun has all the goodies and a couple extra mags, I have long considered one, but sometimes wonder if I really need one as I pretty much just punch paper, guess I am looking for opinions one way or the other. Thanks

That's close to what I paid for my "used" one.
Guy bought it, wife made him return it, unfired, so I got it for $950

They really are a quality pistol.
Much nicer than the Loaded, and a world better than the Mil-Spec.

I bought my first TRP NIB for pretty much full retail.  Then a few months later a LNIB popped up locally for 1100 so I bought that one too.  Both of mine are standard dustcovers but if I see an operator pop up used I'll be getting a third.  So I guess you could say I like them.

I've gotten a bunch of use out of mine. Best gun I've ever bought.

The TRP is a great gun, but the price for a twice used model should be lower than what you cited.

Both of mine were single owner, lnib, for around $950. I see them advertised often for less than 1K.

Thanks again guys for all the replies, the fact that I found out today that the seller is not the original owner has me thinking.

Still a halfway decent price if the round count is good. I got mine from my gun club that allowed you to try anything in the display case, so I don't know how many rounds are actually through it. I don't think many were put through it as it hadn't been there long.

Here's a pic of mine to satisfy 03RN.

I need to take some better pictures. I love mine though. Seems like you've got a good deal and should go for it!

So this is a TRP pic thread now?

I want a Range Officer Operator to keep it company, though.

Great gun, and I'd buy mine again in a second, but that sounds a touch high.

Some of you guys must live in locales with really tough markets. Around here, the going rate on a new TRP Operator (not a regular TRP) is around $1400. I have never seen a used one sell for less than $1100.

It doesn't matter much how many hands have been on it; an inspection of the guts will indicate the true round count and value. The hard part is making sure no parts were swapped out without notice.

Now, the regular TRPs in used condition are a $1k pistol all day long, and I see them moving at that price quite regularly.

OP, you did good. Don't let the lowballer squad get you down!

Hahaha, yes they will, yes they will. DW makes a hell of a pistol and I'll get one someday. But I enjoy my Lightweight Operator!

OP, go ahead and figure another $100 for a quality leather and/or hybrid holster and of course a set of VZ grips!

ETA: I've been around here for a while and I feel kinda lame for asking but..... What does FO mean? I always though it was a acronym for "Fuck Off"... Or at least that is how I've used it in "Texting" Communication in the past...

The "F" key is right to the "G" key, and some accidentally strike the "G" instead of the "F".
Kind of a joke now, for something along the lines of: "Should I GO for it...?" But with an "F" in place of the "G"
And the TRP models come with VZ, or similar grips.
The front checkering is a complaint by some, as it is quite aggressive.

Hahahaha! Ok, that makes total sense... I'm usually really good at figuring out the acronyms but was at a total stump on this one. Yeah, I noticed the TRP came with some different grips aside from the cross cannon norm. But I would still want to choose my own style, (either Diamondbacks or Alien's from personal preference...) I'm actually going to send my LW Operator Champion off for a bobtail job in "Golf Ball" pattern and matching front strap style checkering. I was hoping to get Springfield Custom Shop to do the work but I don't know if they are accepting work orders at the moment.

What is the stock LPI checkering for the stock TRP Dirtyone? I've handled several TRP's but never thought it was aggressive. However shooting and handling are two different things. And thanks for clearing up the FO dilemma!

How does the TRP compare to the Colt CCU?

Is there an undercut under the trigger guard?

OP, if you want a 1911... you really cannot find anything better than the TRP for the money. Value speaking, its at the top for what is being offered. Law of diminishing returns speaking and all... This is coming from a DW and a Baer fan too! Both of which make fantastic 1911's as well!

If I didn't prefer the feature set and cleaner look of the DW Valor, I'd be all over a TRP.

If I ever decide to get another 1911 to round out my collection it almost certainty will be the DW Specialist Commander! The Valor is a beautifully clean piece as well!

That's a fair price.  I'm not a fan of railed 1911s, just because of looks and weight, but if you need the rail then do it.

The TRP doesn't have an undercut trigger guard.  The CCU doesn't have a magwell.  The CCU's *I* have handled aren't fit as well as my sample size of 2 TRP's.  IMO, if you add in SA's customer service, the TRP is the way to go.

Thanks. I decided on the CCU mainly for the ionbond finish, undercut trigger guard and standard bushing. Hard to go wrong with either though.
