Is a Remington R1 enhanced a decent 1911.  I've got a chance to get one for about $600.  It would be my first 1911.

I have one and like it a lot. Paid $620 for mine used but in very good condition.

Does it have the factory case and mags??

I have the "carry " model commander and it's been great. My other 1911's are dan Wesson, sa, and colt. I rank it between my colt and dw (dw best out of mine)

Yes it is all new unfired in box.  Thanks for the replies.  Never heard much about them but it looked like a solid gun

I think that $600 unfired is a good price. However this might give you a little bargaining leverage:

Grab-a-gun has the same pistol for just under $670 shipped. I read recently that Remington has extended their $75 rebate program on these pistols. Assuming your FFL charges $25 for a transfer:

$670 + $25 = $705, then $705 - $75 gives you $630. So for $30 more you could have brand-new-in-the-box. Might be able to use these figures to talk the asking price down a little.

The rebate makes the qualifying models very tempting for some of us!
