Came across this watching vickers tactical on youtube. I'm a 10mm fan and love my SA 1911's. If true, I'd buy one in a heartbeat.

They do.

Had it built early last year.

They're supposed to be making their combat operator in 10mm soon.

You're such a tease. That gun makes my pants feel tight.

I posted this in the Combat Operator thread and it was originally posted on TOS:

Hope you guys don't mind me jumping in on this one. I am in charge of coming up with and coordinating the special projects at Lipsey's. The Combat Operator has been a project we have been working on for a while. Luckily Springfield finally had some production time open up on 1911's to allow us to run these. We plan on running 150 to 200 a month and once the 45 ACP and 10mm versions are ready, we will rotate the calibers around each month. Basically, we would do 200 9mm's one month, then 200 45's, then 200 10mm, and back to 9mm's and so forth. The response has been great on the 9mm and was one of the more popular items in our booth at SHOT. I have a lot of rounds thru the first sample gun and it is hard to put it down. Like F.C.III said above, it has zero recoil. Let me know if you have any questions.

As much as I would like to have a 10mm Operator to go with my TRP Operator - for less than $1400 one could buy a Dan Wesson Razorback.

Any opinions on which one you guys would prefer?  This will be my first 10mm.

I'd get a SA 10mm once it comes out, since if you want to mess with it you have SACS on your side.

Springfield, same as the full rail operator, just without the rail cuts.

Very true, and I am a Springfield fanboy but have always wanted to try a DW. Wonder if the combat operator will be offered in any other colors besides the grey?

Isn't 10mm a 1911 frame killer?

Don't eat me

Nope.

Not with modern carbon steel frames.

Metallurgy has come a long way.

And with proper recoil spring rates... You definitely want a heavier spring if you're going to shoot the hot stuff.

A proper 1911 10mm will have more than just a heavier recoil spring.  A "tuned" flat bottom Firing Pin Stop and a heavier mainspring should be used in conjunction with a heavier recoil spring.
