I am very tempted to pull the trigger on a NIB Les Baer Concept V Stainless Steel for $1650 + shipping. This seems like a screaming deal.

Never owned a 1911 before, but after doing tons of research of the years I came to the conclusion I would want either a "el cheapo" type RRA/SA GI for around ~$600 or go to the next level for a semi-custom for $1800. SS usually seems to cost about $100 more for a Baer (so $1900). When I saw this new one on a Black Friday sale for $1650, I don't think I can pass it up.

Am I crazy or is it at least a "good" deal (if not excellent)?

Forgive me if wrong forum or rule breaking.

Not a bad deal at all.  I'd say go for it.

It looks like a good deal and Bear makes an accurate 1911.

Buy it if it's not gone.

That price, for that level pistol, is a no brainer.

For those wondering, I did end up buying it. Haven't received yet obviously.

Re-reading my post, I made a mistake and said RRA when I meant RIA.

Also, I meant to clarify when I said "next level" I meant I would make the jump "two levels," if you will, and go for a "mass produced" custom vice a production gun with custom parts added. So, $1800 gun vice $1000 dollar one.

I was pretty confident I was getting a lot of (new) gun for the price, but wanted to bounce it off others.

I think my dad was about my age when he got an AMT Hardballer to carry as a sheriff's deputy in the mid-80's. He is the one that recommended SS when I was torn between blued and stainless.

You'll be happy with it, Baer makes good shit.

Follow the break in procedure from Uncle Les, then shoot the piss out of it.  I've had mine for a little over a month, and have about 1k rounds through it so far......zero malfunctions of any kind and it's smoother than a 21 year old hot chick's ass.

Great, you will like it.  I've only had to break in one Baer ,my other was bought used.  Just run your 500 rds thru it
Before you clean it.   It will be pretty tight till you shoot it a lot.  You are going to need a bushing wrench for sure.
Don't get bummed if it gags a bit till broken in.  Once it is it will be 100%

That was a pretty good price too.

Got a pic?

I have a Baer Premier II. It took at least 500 rounds to get it "broke in" before I would carry it. Keep the rails oiled. They're a tight fit with the slide.

Haven't received yet.

Also, I hear the blued guns are even tighter than the stainless ones. Which, some complain they are almost "too tight." Another reason I got SS.

Awesome deal.

Les Baer is every bit the gun a Wilson or Nighthawk is, you just aren't paying an extra $2000 for $1000 in finishing.

I have shot the wilsons, they are nice, but shot no better than my 5" Baer.

This should tide OP over till his shows.

Here it is gents. NICS cleared yesterday.

Sorry for the quality. HHG are still in storage following exit from military, including my only non-web camera.

Only bad news is, it came out to be $65 more than what I originally ordered for (will be posting seller feedback in another thread at some point).
