im trying to get a fullsize beater 1911 in 9mm running without dumping a bunch of money into it. the firing pin spring is smashed on one end, and the firing pin itself has wear on the shank from rubbing on the bunched up spring. are all 1911 firing pins the same? same for 45, as it is for 9mm? same for the firing pin spring?

No.

45 pins are not the same size as 38 super pins for certain. I believe 9mm guns use the 38 super pin but I'm not 100% on that.

Also, some if not all of the Springfield guns use 38 pins in the 45's.

The 9mm/38 super 1911s use the same firing pin and some 45acp 1911s use the 9mm/38 super firing pins as well like my DW Valor and ECO.

G. I. firing pin is 0.091" with the appropriate hole size in the bolt face.  9 mm  1911s (most of them) use a 0.068" pin with  an appropriate bolt face fm hole.
Springfield, just to be different, uses a 0.075" fp on most of their their 1911s.

Half true, just to screw with things, their SACS guns use 0.090 pins

I said "most" of their 1911s. My Pro has a .090 titanium fp.  I suspect that SACS 9mm offerings have a fp of lesser diameter than .090".

I would opine that the size of the firing pin spring will depend upon the diameter of the firing pin itself.

The tip of the pin is different.
Most of the body is the same.

The Colt 10mm uses the .38 Super/ 9mm firing pin.

Nope. .45 and .38/9mm size pins. My SIG .45 1911 uses a .38/9mm spring for instance.
