Hi there.

My googlefu is weak and I have been trying to figure this out, but I have a Colt .22LR conversion kit for 1911 handguns. It has no mags, though... so I was wondering which mags would work for it. Apparently Colt has its own pattern, but would Ceiner mags work well? Any tips?

Thanks,

Jordan

The wilson combat 22 conversion mags or marvel conversion mags ( the metal ones for sure a maybe on the plastic ones) should work just fine
I am assuming you are talking about the conversion with the floating chamber ?

I was looking for Metalform magazines, that's what I have for my Colt Ace, but it seems that Metalform isn't making them anymore.

These from Cotes might be worth a look see, the description says Colt 1911 .22 only, not other guns, you might give them a ring and see if they're what you're looking for.

Pix would be nice.

Another option might be a 22 LR 1911 conversion magazine sold under Brownell's name.  The magazine is supposed to work with Marvel, Nighthawk, Advantage Arms, Kimber and Ciener conversions.  You might call Brownell's tech support to see if their mags have been tested with the Colt 22 conversion unit.  At least the price is reasonable compared to genuine Colt mags.

I looked in the Colt section on rimfire central forum and several users reported the Brownell's magazines worked in their Colt 22 conversion units plus Colt Ace dedicated 22 pistol.  A couple posters mentioned the GSG 1911 22 mags also worked with the Colt conversion unit however the GSG 1911 mags are generally more expensive than the Brownell's.
