I'm a left handed shooter, never use them. Just improvise and move on. Been shooting to long to change now.

Most I know use the trigger finger.

Karl Lippard (out of Colorado Springs sells some on e bay) has a ambi mag release. It does a great job but you have to modify frame.

I use both the Norgon and the KAC.
ETA: Duh, 1911s. I do not use a ambi safety or mag release on my 1911. A friend has a Cylinder & Slide ambi mag release on his 1911. It works well, but it's not my cup of tea. |

I tried one of those out and got rid of it. Messed up my grip with either hand.

Interdasting, I have never tried to put AR parts on a 1911.......Does it work without modification?
