Does anyone have any hands-on experience with the Dan Wesson Pointman 9?  I really like the idea of a high quality 9mm 1911.  I've looked for reviews and haven't found too much (mostly dug up reviews of the PM7)

- I'm not crazy about the adjustable rear sight, but I could live with it.  I prefer fixed Novaks.  (everybody has their fave)
- I prefer my 1911's with a flared magwell.  (another relatively easy change)
- I'd rather shoot  ~$0.25 per round 9mm ammo than ~ $0.40 round .45acp   After 10,000 rounds, the gun pays for itself, right?

It makes sense for range guns and lightweight, compact Carry pistols imo.

Nice looking gun though op.  Isnt the rear dovetail on that the same as the Novak ones?

The only thing to understand about a 9mm 1911 is that they are fun!

Also, if you carry a 1911 in .45, cross training with a 1911 9mm makes sense.

Its allot more pleasant physically and financially to shoot a 1000 9mm during a 2 day class than .45.

i really looked hard at this gun for a while. I was after either the PM9 or the STI lawman 9mm. I still have not made up my mind. So have been telling myself to wait and just order a Wilson CQB 9mm but it has not happed yet.

Sorry OP I don't have any experience with the Dan Wesson.  But from what I understand it would be hard to go wrong with it.

I bought my dad a PM7 years ago, its an extremely nice 1911, fit finish accuracy all top notch.

I've never shot the PM9, but I do have the DW Guardian in 9mm.  I do not carry it, so take that for what it's worth.  It has been flawless since day one, and is my favorite 9mm to shot.  It has a great trigger and is really a soft shooter.  I'd imagine the extra weight that the PM9 has will make it a more pleasant gun to shoot.

I have one. It is one of my favorite guns to shoot. Extremely accurate, low recoil, reliable. It took a 12 lb recoil spring to run 100% but no issues in the last 8,000 rounds or so. I added a mag well, a thinner front sight, VZ grips, slimmed the slide stop, and had it hard hat treated.

There are probably 10 of them in a weekly steel match I shoot and all run well.

I haven't shot their 9mm but my Dan Wesson Razorback 10mm is a work of art

I don't care for Stainless Steel, but it is, by accounts a good gun. Springfield Range Officer, and STI Lawman are also viable options as well. However the RO has no checkering, and the STI has 30 lpi. Both are carbon guns with forged frames. All have SS barrels I believe.

Looks like a bo-mar rear cut.

OP, Dan Wesson guns are all very good.

But have you considered the S&W 9mm Pro Series 1911?

It has the features you are lacking on the PM9, and is a very high quality gun.

wow!       No, I didn't realize that S&W made a 9mm in their "pro series".  Thanks.   That does look pretty sweet and checks off a lot of the boxes.

I LOVE my PM9. I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I would buy another if I was in the market for another 9mm 1911, but it's so perfect, no bother!
