After an exhausting project, my pistol is finally finished and in my hands.
26+ month wait
1937 M1911A1 Reproduction
Colt Custom shop build from the frame up.
Harrison sear and disconnector
Vintage milled Colt trigger and MSH (fitted Harrison short trigger not shown)
Probably one of the last checkered Nowlin slide stops
Coccobolo full checkered grips that I need to file down so the USP mark isn't covered
Good sights aren't a bad thing so I opted for the Harrison Retro rear with Novak gold bead.  GI look but better sight picture.
Pictures brought to you by poor lighting.

P.S.
I post on a three forums, so you might see this again :)

Beautiful pistol.

Maybe next time you could use a 2 lumen bulb and really bring out the details.

Very nice pretty much exactly how I would want it. I never get hammer bite and in 30 years have never failed to depress a grip safety so the traditional hammer is fine for me. Sights big enough to see and finally a pic of a 1911 with a short trigger- I hate long triggers and in reality very few 1911's shooters are best served by a long trigger but most don't know it. I routinely carry a les Baer national match hardball which would look similar to this gun except the adjustable rear sight and front strap checkering ( which I do not care for but it came that way) unfortunately it has a long trigger but the pull is so nice I do not want to mess with it

Dude.  Respect!

At first glance of the first photo, I thought, "Man, they don't make 'em like that anymore!"
Then I read what you wrote and realized, "Well, yes they do!"

Beautiful pistol.

It's a shame really, that some of the things they can do simply aren't done as a cost saving measure.
Polished rollmarks for one.  They should be doing it on all their pistols instead of on custom orders and refinishes.
It's just more aesthetically pleasing, but I guess most people don't care too much and would rather buy a less expensive Colt without the extra surface prep.

The proper refinish as done by Colt would make it worth the wait for me.....very few places are capable of that caliber of work.....send that pistol for a refinish to 99.5% of the companies/people out there and will come back basically "dehorned".....its like a work of art when done properly

Me either only because I get hammer bite, (have Ham-Hands), and enjoy Novak style sights. However, OP, that is one extremely nice pistol. What a beautiful piece you have there...

That is a beautiful pistol.

Could you clarify what you meant by "1937 reproduction?"  Is that a vintage pistol refinished or a reproduction of a vintage pistol that has been refinished?

[#21]
It is a new production Colt meant to be a reproduction of a Colt M1911A1 built in 1937.
I told the Colt Custom shop what I wanted and they got most of it correct.
There was no base pistol. Colt built the entire pistol.

Frankly, at this point, no

It's headed back to Colt to fix some deficiencies
