Lets talk about them as I am having a problem choosing

I got it narrowed down to the Simonich gunners or the diamond backs. I want something super aggressive.

I wanna say my TRP had grips similar to the diamondbacks, but im not positive.

All I use are diamond backs for USPSA and IDPA comp. they work well but can be a bit much for IWB carry.

I have a set of diamond backs on two of my guns.
Very grippy. They will leave the grip pattern on your skin after picking up the gun and shooting a few rounds.
However, The are not uncomfortable or anything. I like them.

You can save a few bucks if you are signed up correctly with Brownells and don't mind the grey/black color. Get the 10-8 version:

http://www.brownells.com/handgun-parts/grip-parts/grips/1911-auto-g10-grip-panels-prod44041.aspx

Made by VZ, 5lpi pattern (same as diamond backs)

I have a TRP with the original grips, and a RO with VZ Operator II grips - the Operator II grips are more aggresive

The TRP will probably get a set of Operator II's in the future.

Take care,
Bob S.

These are 10-8 Grips but I am big fan. They are very aggressive and the large thumb cut out is nice for quick access to the mag release button.

These are my VZ Diamondbacks - 2nd post/picture down on page 5:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_5_49/124898__ARCHIVED_THREAD____VZ_Grips___Perfection.html&page=5

It's an archived thread but lots of great pics of all types go VZ Grips.

I have the Diamondbacks on six Pistols (1911's & Hi Powers) - love them.  Some argue that they are ridiculously aggressive and I agree - that's why I bought them!

Everyone is pushing me the opposite way I was thinking

Does anyone have any of the VZ gunners?

15% off all VZ grips for Veterans day.

I think I'll' go with a set of  original Operators for my carry Commander.

Went with the gunners to throw on my Pro.

I hope I made the right choice

Yep.

Really, really aggressive texture.  I took a piece of fine sandpaper and knocked down the points where they pattern peaks because it was a bit too much.
The good news, it's a very simple "adjustment".

I love 'em.

Good! Im looking for something very aggressive,

When did you buy yours? I have read there are a few VZ variants out there and some are not sharp at all. Im hoping I got the type yours is.

Also what color did you buy? Im thinking we have the same tastes there as well

I think I bought them about a year ago.
I believe they are the Earth Brown, Standard profile with a beveled bottom and a thumb notch.

I went with that color scheme as well.

Looks good!

I went without a cut for the magazine though. I do not care for them as I feel I loose traction of my support hand right in that area. My small digits wont reach the mag release without tilting the gun in my firing hand anyways

Nice.

Hey, if you haven't closed out the order yet, make sure you get the little O rings for the grip screws.
The grips will work loose without them.

I've tried several and the Operator is the way to go.  And, you get the benefit of a magazine release cut-out for no additional price with the Operators.  I use them in competition and they stay put !

none of my grips have a o-ring, to date they have not come loose.

a little dab of nail polish will keep the screws tight.

I got my first set of Operator II's on my RIA 10mm... They are my new favorite VZ pattern.
Comfy enough to carry for me (IWB, Milt Sparks VM2)...

Every gun i own (of modern manufacture...) that CAN use VZ grips is now wearing them... Other than my 642 JFrame.  Soon to be changed.

VZ finally responded to my email

The diamondbacks are the most aggressive grip they offer.

2nd would be the gunners

This is true. However both grips are listed as very aggressive.

I just got em today. THe tiny bit of time I had with em I like em. Much more aggressive than the standard double diamonds that were on my Pro from the factory.

I would agree tho that the diamondbacks are way more aggressive, I beliebe my TRP had grips similar to those and those were much sharper than the gunners.

But the gunners are still sharp enough. Cant wait to get some trigger time with em. They look great too! If they would have not flattened out the points on the grips it would be much grippier, but it is what it is and is aggressive enough for me.

ETA, my only complaint, which isnt a real one yet, is it seems the grip screws stick out more than my factory grips. I think it wont be a big deal though. However my factory right grip was moving slightly at the bottom screw, which was a severe annoyance to be able to feel it move under recoil. The VZ grips do not have this problem

Most of my 1911's wear them of one design or another. I have no real preference, I adapt to them all.
