When you remove an ambi safety to replace it with a normal one is the safety the only part you need?

The only reason I ask is because on guns with regular safeties the pins on the opposite side of the gun have caps on them, are these for looks or are they needed to hold them in place?

it depends on the type of safety. Some ambi safeties use an extended sear pin, others use a special hammer pin. Depends on what type yours is.

If your ambi is held on via the right grip panel, then all you need to purchase is a regular safety and have it fit.

I believe this is the way both of the ones I want to dump are held on. One is a SA loaded and the other a Colt Rail Gun. They have the leg that goes under the right grip panel. Some hammer and sear pins couldn't hurt to have on hand though.

Odds are you would loose the pins before you need them, but getting more parts will split the shipping.
