Wow, where to start? The upper is a 1942 Mauser, the frame looks correct
with the hump on the back of the toggle ears and the P.08 marking. It
is a mismatch as someone else noted. The side plate is a replacement,
probably home made as it is not contoured correctly. The take down lever
looks like another home made piece as it is not correct at all. Grips
are obviously incorrect, if you do replace them Nill makes the best
ones, but they will set you back $90 or more. The barrel has been
shortened a bit and the front sight is obviously wrong. Thor on this
board could have it fixed correctly if you so desire, although a new
barrel would be the best way to go. The most valuable item on this gun
is the Bakelite bottom FXO mag it has, worth $150 or more if the base is
not cracked. I strongly advise you get a Mec Gar replacement mag if you
intend to shoot the gun. The Bakelite bottoms are fragile and will
crack with use destroying any value. Whatever you do do not put a
shoulder board on that gun unless you register it as a SBR. Shoulder
boards are only legal to use on the Navy, Artillery and Carbine models
and must be the appropriate stock for that model.

Can you recommend a manufacturer for cheap grips? I doubt I'll shoot this much and would only change the grips to reach the trigger better. Otherwise, I'll love it and keep it in the safe. |

Almost looks like the front sight block is threaded on, like it could be removed and a silencer threaded back on it. Lugers at Random by Charles Kenyon has one pictured on page 363. The take down lever and thumb safety lever look like replacements too.

I'm just curious.......... ![]() |

I thought shoulder boards (stock) was permitted for all lugers with the frame tang. Didn't know it was restricted to the longer barreled models.

Thanks. I looked through the C&R listing on BATF's site and see the Navy, Carbine and Artillery models. I have a 1916 DWM (4") with the tang.

Do not put any stock on an Artillery Luger unless it is an Artillery Luger stock, Navy Lugers require navy stocks only. Etc, not worth the potential problems IMO
