THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I just bought a "well loved" Mauser C96 Bolo and it needs a barrel re-line. It looks like the two best options are The Broom Closet and Redman's. The Broom Closet's turn-around and price beat Redman's, so I plan on using them. I am also going to have them re-blue the gun while they have it.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Anything I should ask them to do/not to do?

Anyone have any pictures of work done by them?

Thanks in advance.

There is a Yahoo C-96 Group that has a lot of info about the Broom Closet.

I think the boss's name is Tom and I send all my Broomhandle Mauser's and Lugers to him to work on and restore. Excellent restoration work, correct gun bluing for the period. Only had one order go south, in relining one barrel, it came back a little off centre, but didn't seem to affect accuracy much.

Redman's is supposed to do better work if you can afford to wait. I have never used the.

I had them do a re line on a Chinese import C96 Bolo years ago. While functional I would call the work done on my pistol less than stellar. They did not fill in gaps with weld, just left them open.
He said "Yes you did" I said "No I didn't" she said "Yes you did" then I said "Nuh uh" they said "Uh huh" then I said, If it is gonna be that kind of party I'm stickin my dick in the mashed potatoes.

Yikes. That makes me pause. Is this how they do all their mausers, or did they just botch yours? Did you ask them to fix it? If so, what was their response? Any pictures.

This may have just been a bad one that got through, I do not know. Like I said it functioned properly, just not so good looking. Sold that gun years ago.

I do restorations on Broomhandles, but I am more expensive and I take my time. Redmans is who I would recommend to do the liner.

I can vouch for Ted, he does top notch restorations, especially old German rust bluing.

I had minds relined by Broom closet, took one week turn around time.

Luger man to refinish is the best in the world.

Redman would have been my choice but he told me a 6-9 month back log.

Makes me want one. But they are either really expensive or all beat to shit seems middle road "shooters" don't exist with these.
