Anybody have any experience with this model? From what I understand it is pretty similar to the P14. I have not been able to find much info on it though, it appears to be typically a special purchase model. For those of you that have them or have handled them can I just rely on reviews from the P14, or is there a difference?

It's a P14. Nicely optioned, but just a P14. I will say the one's I've handled have had better triggers than the run-of-the mill Para's I've messed with, but have yet to shoot one (mine should be in sometime this summer .)

.308- because people have a strange tendency to get behind things when you start shooting at them.

Glad to hear the trigger is a little nicer. I have a work buddy who has one and is supposed to be bringing it in for me to look at in a couple weeks. He really likes his, though hasn't put very many rounds through it. If I like how it feels I will probably order one through the factory.

They're offering the SF-45-A for commercial sale on their site?

Sorry, actually it's a special order through work, you have to order using a special code, not just through the website.

Ah, makes sense, that's how all SF-45-A's have been done to my knowledge. Not sure what your situation is, but in mine, the P14 isn't my first choice for a pistol - but SF-45-A pistols typically represents a time/place/group that you wont be able to substitute with another gun.

Exactly, It will have my department's 150 year anniversary and will have the patch and star engraved. But it was pretty good timing, I have been wanting to try out a double stack 1911. I have a TRP that is great, but I have been curious about nearly doubling my magazine capacity.

Did ya'll get the email from the program manager saying the whole factory was working on the SF-45-A's to clear the backlog? If anyone at Para's reading this, please make sure you don't rush too fast on them!

I ran mine through a 3day pistol manipulation class shortly after recieving it. Approx 1000 rounds with only 4 FTF's, narrowed it down to the mag in the first few hours. Since it came with 5 mags, no big deal. Decent accuracy and better trigger than any Para I've ever shot (think 6 so far). Finish is MUCH more durable than the nitetac 14-45 I had for a few years. One hand manipulation drills off gun belt, wall, whatever nearby and only a very small scratch. For the price you can't beat it, throw in laser engraved logo's and it's all win. From what I can tell it's just a P14 with better everything.

Glad to hear yours has been working so well. I was hoping to put a bunch of rounds through it after getting it to try it out and see how it functions. I am going to be looking at a co-workers SF-45-A on Wednesday, then make my final decision on the purchase once I have had a chance to see how it feels.

Well, I put my order in, they say 12-14 weeks, we'll see what how long it really takes. I always hate ordering the gun, then having that waiting period before you actually get to fondle it and take it out to the range.

That's too bad, for me 12 weeks will be late September. I was hoping it could possibly be shorter than that, but I knew that wouldn't really happen.

Only waiting 15 weeks? Ha! I ordered mine in October of '08... They just charged my card about a month ago. If this wasn't a commerative I would have canceled the order at least a year ago.

I ordered mine and it was in on time for when we returned to the states. It was stolen and it took about 4 weeks to get a replacement. I like the gun its very nice for the money.

It was waiting when I got back from the sand box. Fired a few hundred rounds through it, shot it for qualification, it never missed a beat, and shoots like a champ.
