THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Have both guns each have their pro's and con's. About the finish on my 16-40 carried it for abut 6 years. within 4 mos the finish began to come off, Hoppe's took it off while cleaning. Seemed to flake off sitting in the safe. When it went back to the factory for some other work I complained about the finish. their reply "Holster wear" On the freaking grip. Yeah the grip is in the holster. Had my local smith do a re-blue. Frame is a different color than the slide but it is a work gun not a BBQ gun.

I'm disappointed in the black finish. Might stop me from buying a GI!

Frames (steel) are Parkerized but yeah, slides are painted. No big job to strip it (soak overnight in brake fluid), then soda blast and Park.

I've contemplated doing a fine bead blast, then brush the flats and electroless nickel plate. This will slightly tighten the slide-frame fit, prevent all holster wear and offer meaningful corrosion resistance.

Darn....this GI Expert had a little scratch on it in the showcase already. It's factory new! And the slide would be the last thing I would refinish because that would mean messing with sights.....PLUS...it has a front fiber optic sight ( which I like ) and they aren't even listed on Para's site.....
