P1 was a P38.

Haven't seen (in a brief search) anything listed on the P2 or P3.

P4 was an updated (shorter bbl, better safety) P1.

P5 was a Walther.

P6 was the P225 SIG Sauer.

P7 the HK Squeeze cocker.

P8 is an HK USP.

(Yes, there are multiple P9 labeled pistols––HK, FN, Kahr, etc), but I didn't see any reference to the P9 as a German Mil/Police designation for any pistol yet....

Thanks!!

I was under the impression that the P9 was not an issue pistol (just a name).   Thanks on the others.

The HK P9 was issued as the P9 to the Saarland State Police and GSG9

Wait seriously?! The Germans adopted that weird-ass pistol?
Please tell me that was only issued to State Shopping Mall Guards

IIRC they were from undelivered WWII orders.

Berlin Police and Border Guards were issued P3 pistols because they couldn't use German made weapons.
Chambered in 9mm Parabellum they were also more powerful than the usual Berlin issued Manhurin made .32acp PP pistols.

Those "weird ass weapons" are actually quite well made and functionally reliable pistols.

Actually the Berlin PD/ security forces were also issued Manurhin made P1's instead of Walther made P38's.

Manurhin also made the PP's used by about every German PD that had PP's.

Berlin Police marked Manurhin P1 and a Landspolizei Bayern ( Bavarian state police ) marked Manurhin PP.

Man I asked this same question in 2004 and got nothing Thanks for bringing this back to me.

A Sig 210 is $2000+ wow wonder what warrants that?

Edit to add the P4 does not have an improved saftye the saftey was removed and replaced with a decock only lever.  The p-38K uses this feature as well and many P38ks you see are really p-1s with the barrel cut and not worth as much as people pay.

The P210 is like a Swiss watch (it's strictly Swiss made, not SIG-Sauer made).   If you ever get a chance to shoot one, try it....in the hands of someone who knows how to use it well, it can do 4" groups....at 100 yards.
