Just curious, how many years has that been carried? How old was your dad when he died, to what age did he continue to carry. I kinda wonder if I will carry when I'm like 80+

As you age your risk of becoming a target increases so I plan to carry as long as I am alive and capable of coherent thought and effectively operating a pistol!

Kimber custom 2, FEG hi power, Springfield champion GI.

Gave the ultra carry 2 to my father. I don't care for the officer length.

Thanks!
It has had a short trigger installed sometime in the distant past, but it is still a treasure to me.

Dad died at age 92. He didn't carry the last couple of years of his life, just too frail, and it was no longer one of his priorities.

He bought the Colt in 1962 from his brother in law. Interestingly, his brother in law carried this gun in Chicago in the 1920's and 1930's. One day he was shooting this very gun at a members only gun range, looked to his left, and saw Al Capone and some cronies doing a little pistol practice of their own. Immediately went back to minding his own business. Interesting times in 1920s Chicago........

I got my dad the tshirts that says "Beware the old man in a world where men die young."  My dad is never without his gun. What's funny, he worked his way through college as a meat cutter and is much scarier with a knife.

It's wearing thin VZ Operator II's in Hyena Brown.

What ammo are you using in it - factory or reloads?  And if reloads, are they loaded to standard 40 S&W lengths or long like everyone runs in 2011s?  I'm seriously considering either a Trojan or Sig Max in 40 to shoot in Single Stack so that I can share ammo with my Limited guns (really it's just an excuse to buy a new gun).

Almost two years later, January 1943.

Prime examples laid side by side (Colt's, Rand, Ithaca, Switch) show a dramatic and surprising difference as each company used a different park color. Its much harder to detect on worn pistols.

Against all odds after 1,202 months apart, long term observant habits developed, this defied all probability.

You have no right to expect original/matching parts or expect very similar high condition, to have the right barrels and stocks, you know how most have something changed by now....

One purchased in 2009, slightly nicer than the recent pistol found in October 2017.
