So im trying to figure out which one i want. In the mood for another dedicated 40 and cant decide between the HK P30 or the Sig P226. Jericho941 all steel is also a consideration. What do you guys think?

You cannot go wrong either way.  I don't have a p226, but I love both my p220 and p30, both are excellent.

If you go with the p30 I would get the LEM. If dead set on da/sa, I would go sig all day.  Their da/sa blows hk out of the water, not even close really.

I have a p30 in .40 and its the only forty I actually enjoy shooting.   The special recoil bushing-spring thingy really seems to work.
The P30 has a better DA trigger but in SA both are good enough.
the decocker on the p30 is much better positioned than the Sig too.
For me, I'd pay a little more for the p30 but not much.

The SIG, if you have the patience you may be able to find a LEO trade in 226 or a 229 (more likely) for cheap.

I have a P226 in .40, great pistol.

P30 because it will still be running strong when all the anodizing has worn off the SIG rails.

I've got some SIGs that say differently, including one that's pushing 34,000 rounds.

But you've got to know how to lube them properly.

You can find cheap P226s in 40 with tons of LEO trade ins right now.

I do not have the newer offerings from HK but do own a few of their older pistols such as the USP. I also own a 226 and 229. Between the two I would go sig. the trigger is great, its heavier but I love the feel of the 226. That said there are a ton of 226 and 229 in .40 coming in as Leo trades so you can get one for a great price.

Never liked the way Sigs P series felt. I have a USP .40 FS. Great pistol. I also have a Sig SP2022 in .40 and it is a nice gun. Out of them all....

I'd get a CZ-75 in .40 S&W. They're that damn good and I love mine.

Went and checked out both last night at a local store. P226 trigger felt better than the P30 but man does the P30 feel good in the hand. Tough decision lol

Sig all day.

Nothing against HK, but I prefer Sig.

I recently picked up a LEO trade in .40 P229 that looks nearly new for $465 out the door.

Mags are cheaper also.

If you go that route, you'll have some leftover money for a case of .40 and a bunch of mags.

The Light LEM is, but I agree that the stock trigger is meh.

226 is about the softest recoiling .40 there is, add  a SRT  and you have nirvana. The 226 and  beretta 96 are the most accurate stock .40s that I havery shot. Many .40s have come through my hands over the years and the 226 is my favorite.

I think the usp is the softest shooting 40 but the p226 is very good.
You can get your trigger on the p30 worked on and make it very good.
Might depend on what you want to spend.

The 226 is extremely soft shooting for .40 pistol thanks to the construction of the Sig. One of the drawbacks to the 226 is the low capacity though

They make 15 RDS mags for the 226

I have both the P226 and the HK P30 light LEM, but both are in 9mm.  You really can't go wrong with either, but like the other guy said, I highly recommend the light LEM V1 trigger if you get a P30.

If I had to grab one pistol for an unknown self defense scenario, it would be my P30 followed closely by my P226, a Glock 19 would be a distant 3rd.
