Don't know what buy for my first HK, it is between the HKP30 or the HK45.
Pros and cons of each.

Thanks.

9mm ammo is cheaper both good pistols.  P30 or USP9 would be my choices from HK.

I was pretty dead set on the HK45, but after reading more I'm liking the P30 a little more. Plus I could later get the
P30SK for a carry gun.

P30 longslide in whatever flavor you like.

Although the VP9 is a better gun.

I have a VP9 and a P30sk.

I carry the p30sk. For me it's the finest ccw handgun available.

The p30 has a very aggressively stippled grip. So much so for me, I avoided buying one for that reason. It will rub a nice rash on "the soft underbelly".

The p30sk grip has been redesigned and the texture is great.

Do you want 15rds of 9mm in a sig p228 sized gun or 10 rds of 45 in a 1911 sized gun?

They are pretty much the same gun outside of those factors, so it really comes down to preference.

The only 2 HK pistols I own are both P7's.

I own a P30LS and a HK45.

The HK45 has the USP trigger system.  I feel the trigger is a little crisper and the reset is a little shorter then the P30 trigger.  The safety on the DA/SA HK45s is also the decocker.  It's relatively easy to convert a DA/SA HK45 to LEM (or vice versa).  You can replace the back strap to adjust the size and shape of the grip.

The P30 shares the same trigger system as the P2000.  It's not as horrible as a lot of people claim.  It's perfectly serviceable, but I don't think it's as nice as the HK45/USP trigger system.  The decocker on the DA/SA P30 is on the back of the slide next to the hammer.  The grip on the P30 has a replaceable back strap and side panels.

If choosing between the two I would answer the following questions:

Do I want a 9mm or .45?
Do I want a (slightly) better trigger or (slightly) better ergonomics?
Why am I not buying both?

They're both awesome, just pick whichever caliber you like more.

If I had to pick, I'd go HK45 simply because I have enough 9mm pistols and I believe that the HK45 is the finest 45acp handgun ever made.

USP tactical 45 or hk45Tactical, something with a threaded barrel.

Don't have money for both, if I go with the P30 I will get the P30SK later and use that as my carry gun.

I don't own any 45ACP.

I've had a P30, P30sk, P2000, VP9, USP9 and USP40. All fine guns and all a bit overpriced save the VP9 and perhaps the P30sk. Never had an HK45.

I want an HK45. I'm sure it's a fine gun if a bit overpriced.

Neither.  Get the HK45C, or CT.  Same mag capacity, but handier.

I have the HK45 tactical and did their match trigger upgrade with USP parts

If I could do it again, I would have bought a USP Expert

There is something very special about an HK handgun in .45ACP. I don't know how to describe it but they're great.

That said, if you go with the P30, go for the longslide version if you're not planning on carrying it concealed.

I also have the VP9 and the P30sks and carry the P30sks daily. Fantastic CCW piece.

I have also owned a P30s (v3 w/ safety). A  few years ago I sold it on a whim and I kick myself for ever selling it. I would trade my VP9 for a P30s in a heart beat.
