Hey y'all I am in a pickle I am gonna buy a new handgun but I don't know which one I want. I already have a gen4 glock 19 and my budget is around $750. Any suggestions

That's a pretty open-ended question.

Guns, like any other tool are task specific.
What role do you want your new gun to fill? Range toy? Concealed carry piece? Competition gun? Nightstand gun?

Without that needed info I say to get a Desert Eagle .50 with da beams.

More info man.....

Cheers!

Well my g19 as of right now is my nightstand gun but I wouldn't mind replacing it but with that being said this next one would be more of a range gun as well as a home defense gun I have kind of narrowed it down to a glock 17, m&p9, fnx, wather ppq and a sig p226 so you see my dilema so many great options so little money haha

Glock 34

Why not a G34?

Interchangeable 17rd mags with your G19, same platform, longer sight radius.

Seems like a no-brainer

What are you into?

Crap, if it was me I'd buy 2 good used ones of reputable make, or just one and a box of 1000 good 9mm rounds.

Pick something you like and get a bargain on it used and spend the rest on ammo.

Have you considered a CZ75?

Of your listed considerations I would get the Glock17. That's always been my preference.

My 19 gets used rarely and stays hidden around the house.

Given that, I'd go with a G17 or as someone else said, a G34. The commonality of the platforms and the ability to share holsters and (some) parts is a big plus IMO.

Cheers!

Either go smaller or larger.

The day of the reliable single stack small 9mm has arrived.  I would go with either a Walther PPS or the Glock (number escapes me).

I have a G19 and G34 and frankly I shoot the G34 more than anything else.  It is a great handgun and I have a weapon light on it 24/7.

You could also consider- especially if you don't already- getting into reloading.  You will shoot a lot more and what is the downside to that?  A Dillon 550 is a reliable and versatile machine.

Finally, consider buying a used handgun.  Most people are not shooters so there are a lot of very lightly used firearms out there in the used market.

If you already have the 19. There's not much more a 17 will get you. Diversify your collection. I have glocks but they are just that. Glocks. Get a cz variant, a 1911, or another striker fired pistol from any flavor manufacturer you like. Don't be boring

CZ SP01 or CZ P09....both make great range and nightstand pistols.

A friend has a Walther PPQ Q5 Match (with the blue trigger)

It's nice. Really nice.

This, or a 75

I like being able to have guns that share the same mags. Also mags for the Glock are the cheapest around. You could replace the 19 in your nightstand with a 17.

Time for a pocket gun. They are a very handy tool to have.

I would get a Glock 26 or a M&P9 compact for CCW duty.

I own a G19 but I have never liked the full size Glocks for some reason.

Range and home defense? For the latter, get security film on the windows and beef up the doors and jambs, add a solar powered perimeter alarm that chimes inside when someone crosses it at night. Home defense is about the property and house. What gun you use when that completely fails? Whatever you have. I have an AR pistol for that job, a rifle cartridge with 30 round mags.

I did just get a S&W 4566, tho. All stainless, .45ACP, night sights, good trigger, runs on the range well according to owners, has a rail for a light for home work. I'm thinking a green laser illuminator you can focus - for about a 18" spot out to 50 feet. Should be bright enough to ID and small enough to center on the center of mass. Why 50 feet? Front to back of my house, should cover it.

Don't bother to shop retail for it, you can get new competition versions but they are over $750. A used LEO trade in nets you one for under $500 on the auctions.

It's completely the opposite of another plastic gun in a small caliber. Ammo is pretty cheap, tho, comparatively, and abundant, too. If the Tanfoglio or CZ seems attractive - and I think they are - then take a look at S&W 4566's. If not, they and many other make nice 1911's which are what the S&W was designed to replace.

G17/33, CZ75 SP01, Sig P226/P320, but honestly what do you want really matters not what we think you want.

Why buy another hi capacity 9mm semi or the same function in a different caliber unless you have issues with the G19?

My needs are going to be different than yours, but if I were going from one to two handguns, I would get a used 4" .357 revolver as an outdoors gun.

I did something similar as you when I first got into guns then I realized I the advantages to sticking with one platform.  I sold almost all of my pistols and now I have strictly M&P 9's and 1911's. Now I can keep 2 calibers and 2 types of mags that will go with everything.  Now I'm not saying to do the same thing as me but what I am saying is that if I were you I would build on the glock if they fit your hand well and you shoot them well. After you have a 34 and a 19 then look at branching out.

Glock 17, mags will work in your 19 if needed.  Same platform so that is a bonus.

I would go with a CZ if you want to try something different.  P-09 or 75.

I am going to suggest the Walther PPQ. I have the Navy version and cannot say enough about this pistol.

I'm a Glock fan, have 3 G17's, if I were going to buy any other pistols one would be the Browning Hi-power and the other would be the new Glock 40 in 10mm, the Hi-power for the novelty and the G40 for outdoors use.
