Can't decide on which Glock to get? Glock 23 or Glock 27? AnY advise?

Well first, I see you're in MD, so the chance of carry is slim. I just left MD in April. It's great here. Though you did just take a huge step in the right direction.

I have a 23, but no 27. However I have the 19 and the 26. I carry the 26 every day. It prints less on my skinny ass frame.

If I had to get rid of either the 19 or 26, I'd have to get rid of the 26. The 19 is just too good at enough things over the subcompact, IMO.

I'd go with the 23 if I were you. There's not many negative things I can think of with a 19 or 23. Good size and capacity, and I could carry them if the subcompact wasn't an option.

Get the 23.

The 27 will be even less fun to shoot in .40, and the size / carry benefit over the 23 is negligible IMO.

If you were asking between G19 and G26, my answer would be the same...get the G19.

23 is a nicer all around gun.  I have both.

Absolutely 23 unless this was going to be a carry gun and you need the deeper concealment/less printing of the 27--and then I'd want both (which is, of course, always the right answer anyway).

I have the 19, 23, 26 and HAD the 27....so my choice is obvious too...I just could not shoot the 27 well.

+1, but I do like my G26 as well.

If you put a grip adapter on the 27 magazine the grip is the same length as the 23.  Depending on your body build if you can conceal the 27 with Pearce grip adapter you can conceal the 23.  The only real reason to get the 27 is if your going to ankle carry, with no grip extension the 27 doesn't show through the pants leg or shirt as much.  The 27 is almost to heavy for ankle carry but I used to carry my 27 above my Rocky boots in a Fobus ankle holster.  There are better more expensive ankle holsters if you ankle carry on a regular basis.  I carried the 27 because my Department issued the Glock 22 but to me I can shoot the 27 as well as the 23.  To me it boils down to how your going to use the pistol but for a home defense gun I'd take the 23 over the 27.

I have both. If I could only have one, I'd get the 27. Conceals much easier, and I shoot it equally as well as my 23.

Pearce grip adapter makes it easier to grip and draw, but I've found that practicing my draw without it, and adapting that to my drawstroke for my 23 makes it kind of worthless. Also, if I grip the front too hard, it can push the mag a nudge, causing feed issues.

As long as you shoot a lot, either one will work fine for you, depending on what you need.

I'm going to disagree with your first statement. The grip adapter adds no length on the back of the frame, which is where a lot of my printing issues lie. I can conceal my 27 with a grip adapter no printing, but with my 23, back of the frame prints. That half inch off makes a world of difference, and is the reason I carry my 27 every day at work, where I'd get fired for carrying. Days off, or if I don't give a fuck about printing issues, I carry my 23.

If you're not going to carry it, get a 22. If you have small hands or just want a smaller gun, get the 23, as it is the perfect size handgun.

The 27 is great if you're going to conceal it, as you can put any of the other magazine sizes in, but it kind of sucks to shoot, even with the full size grip adapter.

23 if you're getting just one gun to handle range, bedside and potential carry duties.  But it's hard to stop at just one

Your correct as I didn't specify which Pearce grip extension.  I first tried the extension that added no extra rounds which didn't look like it would take being dropped because of a gap between the mag body and the extension.   I have used the Pearce +1 & +2 plus Glock extension which still don't completely fill the back strap.  A lot of the printing on the waste correlates to a persons build.  Ultimately the 27 is more concealable and a tad lighter than the 23 but to me it boils down to how your going to use the pistol.  I had a choice and bought the 27 for the conceal ability.

I have both the G23 and the G27.  I pocket carry the 27 everyday and have for years--use an Alabama kydex pocket holster and it's easy.  That's quite a few rounds of 40 cal in a pretty small (and reliable) package.

If I lived in Fergidishu I'd carry the 23 OWB and a spare mag or two.  I somewhat gauge my carry by where I live or visit.

Both guns are fine at the range with the G27 maybe a bit softer to shoot.

Neither.  Buy a 19 if you don't already have one.  It is the finest all around Glock made.

As to .40S&W, buy the 23 and not the 27.

NO one I know has yet kept a 27.  We had a choice of issue 22s and 23s.  The shooters chose the 22s and the non shooter guys and the girls chose a 23.  Most everyone learned to handle the recoil with the FedLite 165 grain Federal HydraShok 40S&W at 950fps.

Periodically, someone would feel their oats and buy a 27.  They would shoot it once or twice, fail to qualify, and sell it.  The butt hitting your hand in the wrong place made them miserable to shoot.  With more powerful .40S&W, they are nasty.  Guys who rarely missed with a 22, suddenly had trouble qualifying on a silouette.  On bullseye targets at 25 yards, they could not qualify where as they did easily with the 22.

On the other hand, a 19 with any standard 9mm is a pussycat.

A 26 can be shot but is so little shorter in length and heighth than a 19 that it is a waste of money.  Most people with a 26 soon find a 19s magazine and add an Xgrip to fill the gap.  The 26 is as thick and as heavy as a 19.  The weight and thickness make it not so easy to hide.

Sorry for an off topic answer, but I have seen the same thing over and over.

A 9mm with good ammo does anything you need a handgun to do.  Mainly to get you back to the AR-15 you should have never set down somewhere and walked off.

Big fan of the G27 here - more accurate than my G22, easier to conceal than the G23 and the recoil is no where near what some people describe (equal to or even less than the G23 in felt recoil in my experience). Several of our wives/girl friends have G27's and shoot them very well indeed. There's almost a cult following around here for these little gems, they're just outstanding little pistols.

If you intend to CCW then I'd opt for the 27 as it is easier to conceal, but shoot them both if possible and see which you prefer. I personally went with the G22/G27 combo and don't like the G23 quite as much as the grip doesn't have quite enough room for my three fingers - pinches them a bit.

get both, I did. 27 is easier to conceal, but you can conceal a full size 22 with the right holster. I vary between the 23 or 27 depending on what I'm wearing that day. I don't find recoil or accuracy an issue at all in Gen 4. It's feels about the same as 9mm to me.

If CC isn't an option, and you insist on 40 S&W: 35>22>23>27.

For concealment, the 27 is easier for some body types to conceal.

I own the Glock 23 gen 4 and i absolutely love it! Has a little kick but totally controllable. Easy to conceal carry. And with the 23 you can buy a 9mm barrel & mags and shoot 9mm out of the 23, or you can also get a 357 sig barrel and mags and shoot that out of the 23. So the you have more options than just the 40 S&W. When putting in the other size barrels you loose some reliability so i probably wouldnt conceal carry in the other calibers in the 23 but thats just me.

Get a 17 or a 22 and have the grip chopped to 19/23 dims. Best of both worlds. Longer sight radius and still the shorter grip.

Between the two I would get the 23, but really prefer the g19.  The best of breed.

If I had to pick, the 23
I do shoot the 27 better and have no worries carrying it.

You can also get a 23 barrel for it if you just want the extra barrel length but keep the shorter grip.

I've had both and always sell the 27 in favor of the 23.  The 27 is smaller yes so if deeper concealment is the ONLY way you plan to carry then perhaps the 27 is the best choice.  BUT the 23 isn't much bigger and I've found that I'd rather carry the 23 because it's quite frankly the perfect sized handgun, it does everything well and will give better capacity than the 27 and conceal nearly as easily.

I got both..... Of course now I am caliber condensing and selling off my 40-.357 pistols.  I have a 32, 27, and 23Gen4 all of which have been fine pistols.  I also have both the .357 Sig and 40S&W barrels for each so I can alternate calibers.

Personally if I had to do it all over again I would have just bought the Glock 19 ad 26 and never have gone into the 40 and 357 world.  9 is cheaper, less recoil, ballistics are pretty much identical, follow up shots on the 9mm are better, and mag capacity (MD sucks for that though but you can find pre-ban mags).

G23. I've never fired a G27 so I can't say how well it would shoot, the G23 is a fine gun. I sold mine three years ago because I never shot it after buying an older Sig P228 and deciding to make it my EDC. Someone else has mentioned the G22 also. If I ever buy another .40, it will probably be the G22.

After (5) years of EDC with my G27 trying to like it... I still hated it. The recoil sucked compared to other .40's and it didn't carry any better than a G23 on me. Shooting 155 & 165 grain Gold Dots felt like I was shooting my 10mm. So, I would opt for the G23 OP if those are you only two choices. I sold my G27 for an M&P40c that is much lighter recoiling, more comfortable ergonomics, a much better trigger (Apex), and holds (1) more round in the mag. YMMV...

Easily of the two, get the 23. BUT I would really recommend considering Glock 19

If you HAVE to get a 40, go with the 23.

The 27 & 33 are a handful and are NOT easy to shoot unless you are experienced AND the fit you.  Most people get rid of their first 27/33.

If you are open to a 9mm, the its a toss between 19 & 26.  26 is manageable and the 19 shoots like a full size.  Its a matter or concealment priority.
