Can't decide between:

J Frame

LCR

Shield

Glock 42

Which one do you choose and why?

Which ever one you shoot the best?  The only responses you will get are people's personal preference.

Definitely personal opinion. Tried a few then went with a Kahr CM9. It is 9mm, 100% reliable, completely hides from view in pocket or IWB carry and very accurate. Been my constant companion for a little over 2 years. Best thing is try a few on for size then make your own decision.

Had an LCR, great piece.  But to consolidate calibers I switched to the LC9.

So I would say, go with the LCR from those choices.

ETA - if they made an LCR in 9mm or .40 I would probably still have one.

Shield unless you are going to pocket carry most of the time. Then I would recommend the Glock 42 as it's much lighter

Agreed.  The flatness of the Shield makes it a better carry choice than the others, and I'd rather carry a wheel gun than any Glock ever made.

I've owned all of those except the Shield.

Kahr CM9 is what I say.

I can't help much as a Glock 17 is my CCW.

Of those you listed, I'd choose the Shield if it is your primary CCW or the G42 if it is a backup/deep cover pistol.

Out of those I would take the Shield 9mm, go IWB holster with a spare extended mag. The J-Frame S&W 642 pocket carry would be my second choice. I really do like my J-frame, although it is a bit bulky. My preferred carry gun is my lightweight commander 1911 IWB with a spare mag. The Springfield XDS .45acp wouldn't be a bad option either for something smaller.

I'm a 1911 45ACP guy but bought a Shield 9mm last week. I have a bad back and the 1911s aren't always possible to carry due to weight.  The Shield is light and easy shooting. Even with the 6lb trigger pull I'm accurate with it. Recoil is mild even with +P rounds. I have to smooth/polish up the trigger parts and get down to a 5lb trigger pull. My 1911s are all 4lb triggers. The shield is an excellent carry gun. Take a look at Talon Grips for rubber or skateboard tape precut stick on grip panels, very inexpensive and improve the grip tremendously.

Of those you listed, I would go with the Shield without a doubt.

But, look at a Walther PPS before you commit.

Revolvers= thick, heavier recoil, less rounds
380= poo poo for power, cost of ammo, selection of effective ammo
shield- thin, reliable, 9mm, reputable company

The all would make a great BUG, but I would carry a double stack compact as a primary.

If you're stuck on one of those, I'd go Shield.  Duty caliber and faster reloads than a revolver.

That is the most ridiculous statement I've seen in a while. You just took an informative reply and made it into complete nonsense by this one statement - you just lost all credibility

I would choose Glock or J-frame because I have carried both.
