Newsflash

The FNP-45 IS the first of the FNX series.

The FNX-45 is a FNP-45 with a new name.  It's the same gun.

Newsflash! No they're not!  There were a number of improvements made on the FNX to address the issues some had with the FNP.

Newsflash

The FNP-45 IS the first of the FNX series.

Both 45's are the SAME GUN except allegedly a longer OAL in the mag and a more supported chamber to mitigate the almost comical rate of KB's.  Both are items that do not typically make a new gun, but are just manufacturing revisions.  They just changed the name to match their new FNX-9/40.  The .45ACP was ALWAYS an "FNX"

Between the FNP-9/40 and the FNX-9/40 yes.

The FNP-45 had nothing to do with the FNP-9 or 40.  The FNP-45 was an early FNX.
"FNP to FNX .45 Changes

The FNX .45 is functionally and ergonomically the same as its FNP predecessor, however some internal dimensions have been updated for optimal performance with a wider variety of commercially available ammunition. The FNP .45 was initially developed in response to a military requirement and thus built around NATO ammunition specs.

FNX-45 is expected to be available by the end of this year.

I hope this is helpful.

Kind regards,

Heres a guy with both that posted the differences:

Looks like the mags and mag wells are different, barrels are different, recoil springs different, FCG different.

Yeah, but they look the same!!!!!!!

What were the main issues that people were having with the FNP? Unsupported barrel, magazine too narrow, trigger pins walking out.  What were the issues they address with the FNX?  Different barrel, different trigger pin, and wider magazine and frame to accommodate said magazine. But it looks the same!

The FN is very accurate and has a great SA trigger.

I've had an FNX-45 (non-tac) for a while, no problems, great shooter, soft recoil. Grip is wide but short front to back so it fits my hand better than my G34. Texture does feel aggressive but I've shot mine all day without gloves no problem. The mushroom cap base plate does make the mags harder to carry. But this is a bulky pistol so if you're planning to carry that's probably not a concern for you. No experience with Para but if I was gonna carry a 1911 I'd go with a single stack and extra mags, too many better choices. if it's in your budget I'd also recommend a look at an HK USP, I have one in 9mm and like it as much as the FNX.

Double stack 1911 (2011) should be either STI or SVI in my book.
