UPDATE!!!
I found a smoking deal on Gunbroker today on a M&P, so I plunked down the cash for that too.
Range report will be coming! Thanks to all ho provided me with great information.
I ended getting a great deal on both by shopping around, so for just over 9 bills, I was able to get both. Happy happy, joy joy!!! |

It can be fixed with aftermarket parts from Apex, but it shouldnt have to be. Love it or hate it, but glocks trigger is what it is. Go buy 10 and all 10 will have a very similar trigger. The M&P not so much. I got real lucky on mine, but try the trigger on pretty much every M&P I get to handle and no two have felt the same to me. Funny. I always got pissed at my glocks for having different trigger characteristics. Worst part was, they were damn near impossible to tweak short of replacing the connector....and even then they were all over the map. M&P's can be tweaked very easily. With one 30 dollar part (the apex usb), the trigger is smoothed up completely, and you can adjust where the sear breaks by changing the dimension of the loop on the trigger bar. While I agree with you that you shouldn't have to install an apex kit to get a nice trigger, an apex'ed M&P is one of the nicer triggers on any modern combat handgun. I will keep that in mind. I was fingering a M&P the other day, and it did not have a very clean reset point at all, I was very surprised. Trigger was a little mushy, so I am going to check that APEX trigger info out first thing. |

I see that you wanted the post to be 22 instead of 23. I was issued a glock for 15 yrs before retirement. I had no love for the 2nd or 3rd generation because I found the grip to be slick in wet weather or in the heat when your and would sweats. During that time I had no gun related failures. Glock then came out with the RTF finish and that took care of the only dislike I had for the weapon. So now I have the 22 gen 3 rtf and the 23 gen 4 is one of my carry weapons with the 22 with light/laser my bedside defense. I have shot the M&P but found the grip to be to slick when I was shooting outside on a 100 degree day. You have to spend extra on the M&P trigger to bring it close to the glock.

I am left handed also and find that if you add the Glock extended slide release you are good to go with handling the Glock left handed. I would say not to change the mag release on the Glock just because you can. The only weapon I have is the 1911 with an ampi safety, every other I learn to use as if right handed. Some handguns you won't be able to alter so get used to using them with your left hand. I can do all the drills with my glock left handed and feel no disadvantage at all. But if I have to use other weapons most will not be adapted for southpaws so learn instead of altering he weapon. In the long run you wll be miles ahead.

I voted get both.
I own an M&P 40 Pro. Also own two Glocks a 19 and a 20. That being said I don't favor either brand over the other. I can shoot them both equally well. Get what you feel is best. Edit: I just now seen your post that you have gotten both. |

I keep trying to like the M&P, but it just doesn't do anything in 9mm, .40 or 357 Sig,for me that the Glock doesn't already do better.
Now in .45, that's a different story. The Glock 21 feels like I'm holding a piece of 2x3 framing lumber. I may be sacrificing three rounds in the mag, but the M&P45 feels much better in my hand. |

UPDATE!!!! So I ordered the M&P from gunbroker on a smoking deal ($469 + $20.00 shipping), and it arrived 2nd day air to my FFL, who called me to pick it up. So I have my new M&P in hand, and I get a call on my cell from Scottsdale Gun Club. Seems the Glock 22 I bought and prepaid is in!!! They did not expect it for months, but it came in. So I went over there the next day, and brought the M&P and a few hundred rounds.
I finshed that sale, and hit the SGC range to get them broke in. They were both dead on, and really glad I bought both. I am still not sure about the M&P trigger, since the reset is weird, but it felt great in my hands. And the Glock shot great.
For anyone that has not had the opportunity to shoot at the SGC range, you should. I usually go to Ben Avery, and sweat it out, but for only $15.00 for the hour, it was worth it with climate control, individual lanes, no range nazis, and for a one time fee of $15.00 (and then you always have the privilege) you can shoot from the holster. Of course, the range day had to be spoiled by some tard next to me spray and praying a 5.7 from 15 feet at the target. The target looked like he shot it from 50 feet with #7 birdshot out of a 12 gauge. But that is for another thread.
So, obligatory pic, thanks to all for the input, even though I got both!!
