The other thing is, I have owned enough high end, low end, subcompact/service, tight, loose, rattle can etc..9mms that can shoot much better then my FS M&P example, 99% of them being far from target guns. When I put the heavier recoil spring in, it made the groups smaller but still not enough to be considered accurate and the erratic POI is still present. !0" at 45' really is out of bounds. Have you sent it in to Smith & Wesson? I'm surprised they didn't catch that in testing before they shipped it. I know my gun was tested, and not just a few shots. There was plenty of brass on the breach face. Twice. First time they adjust the rear sight to far to the right and called it GTG. The second time I got a new barrel. Grant it the new barrel is better but it still exhibits terrible accuracy. Look on page 5 of this thread for my target pictures with the new barrel....it was way worse than that with the original. They technically missed it twice and they deem the new barrel and accuracy with-in spec. According to the S&W techs, the FS 9mm M&Ps should get no more than 3" groups at 25 yards. Well, at this point I have to admit that you are in the same boat I was in with my Glock that wouldn't shoot at all without jamming. That is, you're kind of out of good options. You can go trade it for something better (that's what I did with my Glock jammamatic). But then the gun store will just sell it to someone else. Maybe if enough people keep sending in the same gun they'll scrap it and replace it. I suppose you could keep sending it in and start getting really forceful about your displeasure. Start calling every day and bitching at them. Not sure that would help. I keep thinking I should have destroyed that Glock myself so that no one else would have to go through the frustration I did. Then I would have been out what I got in trade. I did tell the gun store about the gun's problems, but I doubt they'll do anything different because of that. I feel your pain. If you trade yours in, at least you're trading in a working gun. A lot of shooters are so bad that they might not know the difference. As a home defense gun, even as inaccurate as it is, it would do. My last try will be to wait for Apex to come out with the new locking blocks. They are being made specifically to help eliminate early unlocking issues. S&W replaced my barrel but not the locking block so that may even be the problem, who knows. If that dosn't work, I'll reluctantly sell it. If it wasn't for the accuracy, it would be the best poly pistol I've owned to date. |
