Smith and Wesson Model 65 .357 Magnum with a 3" barrel.
Shoots .357 Magnum or .38 Special. Easy to carry. Simple to use. Commonly available ammo. There is a beat up but functional one on Gunbroker right now for $370. It would make a great truck gun. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=287024078 Here is a nicer 4" for $350: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=287731068 Those are some of the .357's plenty of cheap Smith and Wesson .38's. Who cares if they look beat. Its a truck gun. |

I like the 357 revolver , lighter 38 reloads or target loads when you are just plinking and full power 357 loads for when you want the power.
If you are on a tight budget or afraid you will beat it up go with a well used Smith & Wesson for the lower cost. The Rugers are good solid guns but they are nearly the cost of the S&W and I think the S&W triggers are better across the board . Don't bother looking at Charter Arms Rossi or Taurus . They are a bit cheaper but the triggers , workmanship and resale are third rate compared to the S&W and Ruger. Colt used to make some nice revolvers years back but they are mostly stupid priced only for the collectors now. Used Glock in 9 or 40 are all great bulletproof guns with reasonable priced ammo. For just hacking around out in the boondocks a 22 pistol or 22 rifle is hard to beat for bang for the buck. I would recomend the Ruger Mark I,II or III or the Browing buckmark for pistols and a Ruger 10/22 for a rifle |

Another vote for a RIA 1911 mostly because I want one too and they seem to run just fine. But I will say try to find a used Glock in any caliber of your choosing. Personally, I would go G19 or G17 which ever one fits your hands better or you happen to find a smoking price on. |

$339 shipped:
![]() 19+1 with SP01 mags, comes pre-worn so you won't have to worry about fucking it up and as reliable as anything out there as long as you don't shoot Blazer aluminum through it, DA trigger isn't horrible and SA trigger is actually not bad at all. Highly recommend based on my experience with mine.

I bought a Judge to pack on the 4wheeler. It does a very nice job on cottonmouths that want to hitch a ride on the floorboards...and on rabbits...and armadillos....and gophers...and opossums.....and..... . |

Nagant revolver.. $99 no need to care how rusty or F^%%ed up it gets.
It holds 7 rounds, has a lanyard loop. The holster has a flap to help keep mud off it & also carries 14 extra rounds. Buy that with a few boxes of ammo and your good to go. |
