So I have been reading up on this Arcus that no one has really heard about. I have had 4 different HiPowers over the years and really prefer the grip of the CZ75. So when I read about this Arcus and the $320 price, I decided to pick one up and give the HiPower grip a try again. I got this one this morning and went straight to the range with a case of ammo. I wiped the packing grease off the insides and cleaned the two magazines. I only put a few drops of mil-tec on the barrel hood and slide rails and got to shooting. I shot through 800 rounds before I ran out of time. 300 rounds of 147gr Winchester Ranger and 500 rounds of Federal 100gr frangible. Not a single stoppage with the different ammo. I was quite pleased.

The trigger in single action was not that bad. Double action is quite stiff. I was really only looing for functioning and wanted to work on my support hand shooting, but I was pleased with the accuracy for my shooting ability. I got over the finger groove phase many years ago, but these rubber grips don't feel half bad. The grip is not good for a lefty though because of the way it is squared off on the top of the right panel. I do like how the trigger guard is under cut to help with the high grip. I wasn't sure about the way the beaver tail turns down, but it wasn't an issue for me. No worse than a GI 1911.

I always wonder why some handguns catch on and are marketed while others are not. The Arcus is not a beauty queen but I worked for me today. With the commonality of the HiPower mags, one would think a reliable handgun would catch on. Here are some pictures I took. David

I loved mine, miss it too. But 7.62x39 SKS was calling my name.
