Like the title suggested, I would like to know whether the HP barrel is stainless or not.
I've been eyeballing at some Belgium made and assembled HP pistols, and wondered why so many of them don't have much rust on their barrels.

Curious mind want to know!

Thank you in advance

I don't know.

But I'd say it's got to be stainless. Steel barrels left in the white just wouldn't make it without rusting. Look at this '87 Mk III I've got. It's an Israeli trade in, and it's prior operator did not take great care of it. The bluing was covered with a thin layer of rust and there was some mild pitting after I got it all cleaned up. But the barrel isn't so bad off. There's some tarnish where it's exposed to the air, but no rust at all. And the underside of it is still bright and shiny.

No they are not stainless from everything I've read in the past and the old grime I've polished off a few that I've had to be more presentable.

Take a magnet with you when you when you go to fondle one, lock the slide back, apply magnet to barrel.

I'm leaning toward "yes" with the way they hold up so well when the rest of some guns turn to crap. This is not be accepted as proof, but Bar-Sto's replacement HP barrels are stainless.

Could you do the 'magnet test' for everyone that don't own a HP yet?
I would imagine if it is truly stainless, it won't attract a magnet.

Let us all know what you find!

BTW, is that a stool from IKEA?!
I have the same one, and used the same you used them

Also known as "In The White"

As for using a magnet to tell, that won't always tell the tale as it depends on the other alloys in the stainless steel, I have had magnets stick to some SS and not on other SS.

And it will stick!  regardless of stainless or not.  barrels are ferritic.

I know for sure there are two types of SSteel, one that is magnetic and one is not.
However, I do not know which one was chosen for HP barrel, nor do I know if the barrel is even SS.

There's seems to be a mix response in the comments...
But from the pictures, I guess the BHP barrel is not stainless steel

AFAIK stock HP barrels are carbon steel in the white.  Bar-Sto barrels are SS.  Some SS is magnetic but is far less so than carbon steel is.  Similarly sized pieces of SS will require far less effort to remove the magnet than would be required with the carbon steel.

Yeah, I know. You have to simplify it for kids these days.

I'm sure LastRites is just adding on to your comment, no more no less.
Thanks again for the information.

Also, I may be young, but I am legally an adult

This is the original barrel from my well used MKIII. It is ferrous and is magnetically attracted. I actually had to polish some rust from it before I took the picture.

This is the barrel that the recoil spring lug broke on and was welded back.
