I had one and it was a nice pistol. 499 is way too much for one. From what i understand that they started out as FEGs in Hungary and had the final machining and finishing done here. I would personally look for an Israeli Surplus hi power. gunbroker

$499 is too much, especially for a used one. They are not bad guns otherwise. I have one and like it.

I paid $299 NIB for mine a few years ago. Buy an FEG from Coles for less than half of that CD.

That's what I was thinking too (about the price), but not knowing the gun, I figured I better ask someone who's been around them. Thanks....
If anyone has anything else to add, I'd love to hear it. -Tac |

Five bills is way too much for a clone when FEG's can be had in the $200 range on Gunbroker.

The frame and slide were US made, the internals were FEG, the guns were assembled by Dan Wesson. The project turned into a complete fiasco for Daly and contributed to their eventual demise. Production run was fairly small, a few thousand at most.

The salesman told me it was the only "US" made HP (non-Browning), but didn't give me anymore detail... I thought the high price might be from the fact it was domestically produced instead of imported, but in reality, if it's no better quality than an FEG, then I don't know what they were thinking when they priced it.... Must be sniffing too much powder solvent or something... Lol. -Tac |

I wanted one of those when they 1st came out but they were spendy as I recall. I also hated the bill board Charles Daley on the slide.
I had a Charles Daley semi-auto shotgun made in Turkey. Bought it from Dicks for $225 brand new. Thought to myself cheap semi-12ga how could I go wrong? It was broken right out of the box. All the rounds in the magazine tube like to pop out at the same time when the bolt was worked - locking up the whole gun. Go here, buy a couple FEG's or a FN for that $: http://www.gunbroker.com/Semi-Auto-Pistols/BI.aspx?Sort=4&IncludeSellers=979927 If you decide on a FN from there get one with a solid trigger pin (not roll pin). Rumor has it the roll pin receiver guns have a warped frame. Or they were just lost when the guns were re-finished. If memory serves new they were around $500, which at time was pushing Browning prices. I was interested in them but never actually saw one. There is an article somewhere on the web, maybe one of the Hi Power sites, that recounted the whole sorry mess. |

Thanks guys... I've passed on this gun and will probably either hold off or go with the FEG.
Thanks again. -Tac |
