I'm partial to the Mk. 1 pattern, and that Belgian certainly looks good. Heck, the others are cool, too. Nice collection.

Thanks Lew.
Did you post up a picture of the one you got yet?

I like the dovetailed sights and ambi safety of the new ones but I think I'm going to put a ring hammer on this one.

I need to snap some for my records, and I'll do that in a day or two. Mine has the spur hammer, and I have no problem keeping it as-is, but I do prefer the looks of the ring hammer. How do you like the stocks on the Israeli and the new purchase? I never could warm up to them.

Think I'm going to put some nice wood on the new one. Scuffed up grips go well with the other Israeli.
I prefer wood on my guns whenever possible.

I've looked at dozens of those Cole auctions on GB trying to figure which one I'm going to buy.
- parkerized or blued ?
- wood grips or black plastic
- Belgian or Israeli

If you go new FN get one with a solid trigger pin (vs roll pin) and matching numbers.
That will narrow em down a bit for you.

I'm left handed so the ambi safety and dove tailed sights were a go for me.

I'll decide for ya: all of the above. Now, wasn't that easy?

I got one recently as well
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=305746555

So far I've replaced the recoil spring, firing pin spring, grips and grip screws. Didn't need to replace the grips or grip screws, but decided to just to have the extra parts if I needed. Also had to replace the firing pin stop because a chunk fell out when I took it off to check out the firing pin. Date code shows it as 1985. Barrel was replaced and I'm trying to get the yuck/brownish out the raw steel barrel. The frame was an easy clean up. Took the grips off, sprayed it down thoroughly with RemOil, let it sit for a couple of days and then blew it out with canned air. It actually turned out better under the carry grime than my 1988. This is going to be an interesting project gun. I've ordered a roll pin punch set, trigger pin and spring and some other bits from Brownells. Should be seeing them in a couple of days. ETA: out of the ones on the sale page, I got this one because it has the rib along the top of the slide like my 1988.

I purchased one from Coles and have been extremely happy with it. It's my 2nd HP, and both guns were made in 1990, albeit 25000 units apart.
I'm a little peeved at my Coles HP because its more accurat and has a better trigger than my
Browning one.

The FN I bought from GCole distributing:

Took a while to get it because my local FFL who offers $20 transfers doesn't know how to use his fax or email. So finally paid $25 to get this from another FFL. It was a $449.50 buy price, plus shipping and the transfer fee. Just picked it up today, haven't shot it yet. Nice reparked finish, although it is a bit rougher texture than what a Browning factory HP park would be.

I think that's a very nice looking HP. Congratulations.

I've been watching these Coles Dist. threads for a while, and decided to pull the trigger on this one last night. With NJ's horrid pistol permit system it will be a couple weeks before i can pick it up.

Brought mine home from the FFL today.

on a side note;
When I was doing this transaction I included a short note in one of the emails wishing Mr. Cole a quick recovery from his injuries and he replied with a short thank you.
And when I first went to my FFL to start the transfer, there was a check included from Cole's for reimbursement of the shipping charges. When I emailed back asking about it he said it was because he wasn't able to send the 13rd magazine that was included in the auction (CA = 10rd).

Got to shoot mine a little while I was home. Good looking gun but a really heavy trigger pull and it looks like the slide and barrel have been re-numbered to match the frame.
I still like it.

I shot 100 rounds through my Hipower last weekend. Nice grouping at 15 yards, functioned flawlessly with cheap winchester white box 9mm. I'm happy, although I still wish I had the MkIII hipower I sold to a board member here during my divorce. I needed the money, this Israeli is a close second, at lower cost. Kimd of hoped it would have some Israeli specific markings, but mine didn't. All matching numbers, and I like the ringed hammer.

I just picked mine up today.

I'm wanting to put on an extended safety and slide release - any recommendations from anyone?

I'm going to take it to the range tomorrow, but I'm thinking that the hammer may bite me. Do you think a rounded hammer would take care of that problem?

No problem with hammer bite, but I did have one FTF using WWB that I wasn't really happy with.

I only have the one mag, so I guess we'll pick up some more and see if that doesn't solve the problem.

Nice pistol.

Hammer bite with the Ho Power covers two things: 1) The end of the spur or the rounded hammer hitting the web of the thumb, or 2) the web of the thumb being pinched between the frame and the shaft of the hammer. Folks with chubby bear paws may experience both. You'll have to find out. Don't try to hold it with a high hold like most Glock shooters do.
